Ok

I suffer from Asthma but my question is that should people suffering Asthma try bodybuilding?

(Maybe off topic)

I spent Sunday April 25 and Monday April 26 north of chch and the man's home which I stayed at was a farm and he did Ozone Therapy and he is studying to become a naturopath at 73 years old.He looked at what I ate daily and concluded it was a disaster and that I was a candidate for diabetes and cancer and his wife was very nice, they introduced me a all vegetarian diet and also identified the food I should stay off since I was a asthmatic.

Eat like normal, lean meats, different coloured vegetables, fruits and grains. Dont worry about what the naturopath says, their mostly vego's anyway and they have convinced themselves that this will prevent cancer. This is my take on it, nobody get offended. Naturopathy looks to be largely looney but to someone on a processed foods diet it would be an improvement, someone on a proper bodybuilding diet ( minus the bulking binges) it would be a performance detriment.

As for diabetes, resistance training is one of the best ways to improve insulin sensitivity, combine that with the frequent feedings of a bodybuilder and you have an excellent recipe to stay healthy.

As for asthmatics, anything physical is what you should be doing, if its severe make sure you have your ventolin at all times. High intensity training will be excellent but any other type will also be good.

My doctor has placed me on a Government restricted medicine called Seretide and its 5x as powerful as ventolin

What is this Ozone Therapy you speak off??

I've got asthma too but training definately helps it. Asthma restricts oxygen entering your lungs but the fitter you are the more efficiently your body uses oxygen anyways. Apparantly its harder for asthmatics to increase their fitness but there are so many breathing techiniques you can learn to really help.

I dont know about all that foods you should avoid crap. Ive been there and dont know if its really worth it.

Amen to that. Just like people who think eating tiger organs make you live longer.

Hill sprints got everyone I knew fitter, in a short time, and many were asthmatics. Hell, my breathing improved.

The gym work wasn't really an issue either (which is the point here), as the heavy breathing comes in short bursts, that don't come anywhere near the exertions of running. Lifting heavy will give the heat and kungs a workout, as you spend the rest period huffing away, but I think you would benefit from it.

Give it a go, weight training will positively change you, mentally and physically.

Here is just one article online about it:

Do some searches. Hope you consider training.

You can train in such a way that doesn't require huge in endurance...eg longer rests between sets, lower reps ect.... Never mind what some old clown told you about your diet, talk to your doc, if it's a major issue... a bb diet with lean meats, complex carbs, an fruit an veg is good for you. you'll look like a little bitch if you go on an vegetarian diet, an won't grow no matter how well u train...much anyway.

You've been brainwashed.

Don't let your 'condition' control you or your life, or are you looking for excuses?
