Hi there,

Im 4th year at Canterbury University, majoring in Photography. Im undertaking a large scale project this year on occupations and peoples passions etc around Christchurch.

Im looking to photograph any serious body builders that wouldn't mind me taking there picture for my documentary project. If not are there any places around the Christchurch area that would be worth me looking into? I can get a letter form the University for whoever is iterested just so they know what im doing and have any questions :)

Cheers

Ambrose

(Send me a message if anyones interested?)

I guessing this is an old man with a hard on for muscles. I can see the photo shoot now, "go on let me apply the baby oil". :puke: :puke: :puke:

It's a possibility, Jimjim, but you don't know that. Ambrose did say he could get a letter from the university. He also emailed me first. For what it's worth, I see no reason to suspect he's anything other than legit.

Ambrose, maybe you can give us some more information on what your project entails. How do bodybuilders fit in? What sort of physique are you looking for? Would you be able to provide photos in lieu of payment?

Its a full year documentary project on occupations, peoples dream jobs, passions or on the otherhand jobs people have fallen into but dont necessarily love. Iv so far photographed ballet dancers, boxers, firemen, police officers etc. I thought body builders would be interesting to look at as its something you have to invest alot of time and energy into, i wanted to find out why people do it why they love it, why they push there bodies to extreme limits etc etc.

And by serious body builders I meant people who consider body building as there one thing in life there 'occupation'. And im not interested in looking at this area for oily men, I wouldnt be at a 4th year university level if those were the aims for my work haha. I am a student so im not rich but I strive for the best in my work so obviously I could give whoever was interested free prints for there time if they wanted to use it in a portfolio.

Basically through my photos i want to show what it takes to be a body builder, so when a person picks up my book at the end of the year they can go shit i never new thats what they do etc. Its all internally assessed atthis stage but if anyone is interested just let me know and we can talk more then..

Btw how do you reply to messages in your inbox haha.

As for physique, steroid use im not sure.. Can people that use steroids compete at the same level as people that dont? if so that would also be interesting to look that.. Im uneducated in this area hence my interest in wanting to find out more. I guess someone thats been doing it for a while and competing would be a good place to start.

A very debatable point that Im sure differnt people will have different opinons on. It really depends which level you are reffering to. At amatuer level at the lower weight classes yes they can compete as often a lot of guys on the gear dont know jack about training and nutrition and workout like a pussy while the natural guy who knows more and trains twice as hard will be better - steroids dont equate to the best physique. If you move up the weight catagories though and into the big boys it becomes increasingly difficult for a natural bb´r to compete with someone who is using and knows about nutrition and works out like a manman.

If you then move into the pro catagories IMO no a natural guy is never going to get close to someone who on that level of steroid use.
