Sore Hand on Bench Press

Wuket

Recommended Posts

I recently went from 110kg to 120kg on bench. Whenever I do this my left hand gets very painful (particularly at the bottom of the motion) and there is almost a tingling along the side of the hand where the little finger runs.

Any ideas? Do I need wrist supports or something?

Cheers

Being so bold as to speak for the collective innuhnet, we don't know. A physio or sports physician is in a better position to be able to diagnose etc.

Better to get it checked sooner rather than later. Good luck.

Back when I was a skinny little 14/15yr old I used to get tingling in other parts of my body when I squated. I didn't have much muscle on my traps so when I loaded the bar over a 100kg it pressed right in to me. I just thought it was the bar cutting off blood through some artery which is why it felt tingly. Kind of sounds similar to what your getting but I'm not sure. Curious to know it is if you do see a physio

Maybe the angle of your wrist at the bottom of the movement is restricting blood flow.

My brother told me once that when he was bashing off he would grip his tool so tightly, his hand would go numb!!!! He said he quite enjoyed this because it felt like someone else was doing it to him!!!!!!!! heheheehhehe
