No Medical Reason to Know Test Levels

Ive been training for 13 Months with good Strength Gains all round, and have changed my lifestyle. Down from 112Kgs and Bodyfat 33%+(was off Chart) to 90Kgs 21% including 2Kgs of Lean mass gain I am 35 and 179cm tall. . As I have family history of Heart Disease and my brothers are Obese, I decided to goto the doctors to get a checkup to see where I stand Health Wise

The Doctor has tested me for Complete Blood count, Creatinine,Serum, Electrolytes,Glucose,Lipids,Urea, etc. But he has refuse to test hormone levels and including testosterone levels, saying theres no Medical reason for me to know that. I said why not, as I Have a personal trainer and we plan on changing my diet and to really start focusing on increasing Lean Mass this year after I lose around another 7% of Fat. I also said I plan on taking supplments like Novadex XT etc, and I want to Know my baseline test levels so I can compare, later on when I do try Testosterone Boosters. Again answer was "No medical reason to know". I said I know but I want to know them anyways. Still refused.

As I Left he told me to continue to do what i am doing and train and to not take steroids. Huh,

So. Wanting to know my Test Levels must mean im Taking Roids? WTF? Im 35 years old Looking to gain lean mass in the future, I thought it be nice infomation to know thats all. So How does one get test levels?

trash your doc bro. you dont need a script for testing hormones, just rock up to medlabs, and get it yourtself. no appointment neccesary, just tick the boxes on the form for serum test, lh, fsh and oestrogen. they will give you the results directly. just post up the results here in the st/ph section, there are several ppl on here that have indepth knowledge of endocrinology.

i did it, took my own bloods for befores/afters, was awesome.

good luck bro, let us know!

yea, its not subsidised. but you pay per test, so if you just get the basics, from memory be around $60. costs a heap to get shbg tested, and no doc is ever going to prescribe that without a genuine endo problem.

as for his doctor, its predictable. in my case, i thought seeing as id paid for the first set, i would go through the doc for the 2nd set. even though i had the results there, in my hand showing abnormal results, he still refused to do them, saying " we can onlt subsidise tests for people that are sick"

so, moral is - if you want it, do it yourself bro!

Hey there, just thought i would let you know i had exactly the same thing happen a few months ago. I asked my doc to get my test levels checked when i was there for something else and he asked me if i had any problem getting it up. I said no. He said well there is no reason to get them tested. I said to him I would just like to know where they are at low, normal, etc.. he said if you have no symptoms then no test. i still have not had them tested. Cool to know you can get it checked yourself.

I was running a trial last year on some herbal extracts for someone, paid the doctor $50, was just open to him and said I am taking this and I am shit scared, he wrote me papers for all health markers inc Test and Est, got tests done before, after 4 weeks and after 8 weeks all free.

I took some research papers with me on the ingredients and told the guy, I am taking this and I need you to assist in making sure I am healthy. I was mostly after the test values.

Guess that's an approach you can take....
