Building a weightlifting platform!

I'm looking at building a weightlifting platform. I am currently doing cleans, snatches and deadlifts on a hard concrete floor with 2 thin ringed rubber mats each side. It just doesn't cut it. I am looking to build a platform to reduce the noise and the impact of the weight hitting the floor. (I use bumper plates for all "out-of rack" exercises)

Cut to the chase... anyone know where I can find some relatively cheap (but decent quality) plywood?, and where I could find some cheap rubber horse-style matting in NZ? Stall mats preferably, or something along those lines. Anyone here built their own weightlifting platform before?

How much would you suppose I be looking at to build a platform 8' by 8' square?

Just want to get some ideas that is all.

Thanks. ;)

I hunted high and low and luckily found some used rubber tiles from a kids playground 35mm thick...trademe.

I surrounded them with timber which I bolted to the floor (use countersunk head bolts so no-one snubs a foot) and so the weight doesnt sink or you dont sink the few mm into the rubber I layed a sheet of 19mm ply on top. Works a treat and we now have 2 areas in the gym like htis...one dedictated to deadlifting and the other for other uses like heavy O/head work, heavy DBs etc

tiles are 400mm/sq
