made me pretty hypo

...

sorry for shit spelling.

I'm really not meaning to be anal, this is a genuine question - do you mean hyper (I'm guessing you do) rather than hypo?

Sorry, I see that you've apologised for spelling and it might be a genuine error, but a lot of people say 'hypo' when they mean 'hyper' - which are two very different things.

Are you meaning that it gives you lots of energy and you feel very up(hyper)? Or are you meaning the opposite and that it give you a bit of a crash (hypo)?

Again, I don't mean to be anal, genuine question - I have hypoglycemia, and for me (and for diabetics) a hypo episode is a blood sugar drop, which really isn't much fun, or what I want a supplement to give me. So it's a fairly important distinction.

Hypoglycemic versus hyperactive. Miss Cat just wants teh clarification re use of "hypo". From what cslegacy wrote, I'm presuming he used "hypo" in place of "hyper".

He (or a mod) has changed the spelling now, so it's clear. Hypo was an error, hyper is what he meant. All clear now!

No, it was a genuine question, which I stated a couple of times as I knew it would come across as wanky if I didn't make it clear that I was asking a genuine question.

I have a friend who is continually trying to spike his insulin levels for some reason or another (something to do with his training), I don't fully understand why, and for me that is just asking for trouble, as that kind of thing is going to lead to a blood sugar drop (well, it would for me) which is a negative thing. It seems to me he (my friend) is trying to induce a hypo state - but maybe the blood sugar drop with all the related physical effects doesn't happen with other people, just some of us, and for some insulin spikes are a good thing. I really don't know, which is why I asked.

So it was a genuine question whether this is what the original poster meant, based on what my friend has been working at with his diet. I didn't think he did, but given what this other person I know has been doing, I just really didn't know if that was something lots of people try to induce.

Sorry for coming across as a wanker, but I really wanted to know, hence twice stating it was a genuine question, not me being anal. I couldn't give a shit if people can't spell or pronounce words properly, I've got enough dyslexics in my family that I'd be in trouble if that kind of thing upset me. Just wanted clarification is all.

Miss Cat, my understanding is that guys try to manipulate insulin in an attempt to produce a more favorable anabolic environment etc

I see my friend at work eating a ton of fruit to spike his insulin, and I just think that if I put that much sugar (natural or not) into my body in one hit, in a few hours I'd get the shakes, break out in a sweat, probably diarrea (sp) and nausea and feel like poo for the rest of the day - certainly not in any shape for a workout  - so my aim is to keep insulin levels even and most definitely not to spike them.

Yep, and getting on my last nerve!

Surely this is closely linked to ketosis/ IGF-1 and all that stuff.. I cbf going to look it all up but isn't insulin-spiking post-workout why you have post workout carbs?

Is that poxy fat bro in law still at yours?

Yep' date=' and getting on my last nerve![/quote']

Head for the man-cave, go lift heavy things... (no, not the brother in law ) - you know you'll feel better afterwards!

Man cave was my sanctuary this morning!

Jeez imagine trying to lift him. He mentioned something about being 25 stone at one point - not sure if that's now or sometime before, as I can't even fathom what that looks like, but it's around 160kg of pure flabbular mass
