What things would make up your ultimate gym?

Mine

- Dumbbells up to 100kg

- Pin loaded Leg press machines up to 1000kg (cos the hardest part is unloading the bastards!)

- Big screen TVs playing the latest bodybuilding DVD's

- Mirrors in the weights section that make you look wider, and in the cardio - section that make you look leaner

- An instant ban to members who stop and chat for more that 2 minutes at a time about anything other than their training and nutrition while using a piece of equipment that someone else is waiting to use.

- An instant ban on any members that only half squat or bench with an invisible 4 board on their chest.

- Chalk and lots of it

- Posing between sets encouraged

- Intergym bodybuilding comps

- PT's who actually know what they're doing :pfft:

Add to the list but lets keep things reasonable. Perhaps there might be a budding gym owner out there who could take some of these idea's on board!

Coast Barbell seems like its well on the way there as well! And our local aint bad either!

Powerrack (or 10 like PH Gym), masses of plates, specialty bars, chains, bands and boxes, good set of DBs. Then throw in some Strongman gear!

That would suck - the only person you fool is yourself. I hate warped mirrors because you can never tell if you are wide or it's just the mirror.

I would like:

- A well structured gym where the free weights were seperate from the machines and cardio etc.

- A big open floor plan where there was a lot of space for barbells with proper matting down and mirrors on all sides.

- Just the basic machines and lots of benches so you don't have to weight for people to get off the flat bench etc.

- Multiple good quality water fountains.

- Dirt cheap tasty shakes with a double serve of protein, yoghurt, banana etc that you can buy at the desk.

- A kid that runs around and tidies up all the weights for you after your done with the equipment your using who also wipes down stuff that has some fat dudes sweat splattered all over it.

- The exact same brand plates throughout the gym that are all the same diameter at all the different weights. (5's, 2.5s and 1.25s would be small though)

- That kid that runs round keeping the place tidy could also spot people so you don't get asked yourself all the time.

- A massive set of free permanent lockers and non-comunal showers. I'm not a homo-phobe but it still feels weird showering with old dudes right next to you.

- Boxing area with all the gear freely provided.

- Now I come to think of it Canterbury Uni gym has most of this stuff and it's only $100 for a year - I would give it a 8.5/10 and Otago Uni gym is free I would give it a 7/10.

Les Mills etc suck balls IMO. Over-priced BS.
