Casein

Hey,

Anyone got any good sources for casein? I want to track down some cheap casein; trying to find milk protein isolate to be exact. Not sure if Davis do anything in bulk. Expecting MPI should be much cheaper than miscellar casein which is the next alternative.

Not so keen on forking out for Optimum's 100% casein.

Anyone? Alternatives other than drinking a ton of milk or milk powder?

came across this website http://tricomnz.com/spe_mpi.html

Probably comes from fonterra?

Surely it'll be better value than the ON 100% casein. Since milk protein is 80% casein and 20% whey. It should be all micellar casein if i'm correct.

Thats isolate

What about this http://tricomnz.com/spe_sodium.html

That's the exact point. Its isolate (hope your not getting confused with whey isolate). Milk protein isolate is un-denatured micellar casein + whey proteins, i.e. the proteins in milk have been partitioned from the water, lactose, fat, etc fractions. I'm not too keen on the more processed caseinate salts such as sodium, potassium or calcium caseinate which is considered inferior.
