Yep if you have just started taking supplements don't waste your money on anything too flash.

Some cheap whey and some cheap creatine is a good start.

And if you have a few chickens running round in your backyard then even better :)

We are currently doing a fairly deal on a locally made whey and a basic creatine.

The guys at bodybuilding.co.nz also have a pretty good deal on a locally made whey and the reactiv range of protein has always been popular if you want value for money.

I'm a big fan of taking only a basic range of supplements when starting off and then maybe adding something different from time to time as you progress and see if you think it makes enough of a difference to warrant the added expense.

Personally i think that using supplements has helped with my own training, but everyone is different, and at the end of the day nothing beats good food, rest, healthy lifestyle and a dedicated approach if you want to really get the best results.

Daniel Hibbs, who won the overall mens physique title at the 2008 NZFBB nats takes very little or no supplements at all, not even protein powder, and he has got a giant killing physique.
