There does not seem to have been any real promotion of this event.

This could lead to very low competitor numbers or even worse a last minute cancellation.

There would probably be a reasonable amount of interest in this show if more people knew about it.

I only found out it was on 2 minutes ago when i saw this thread.

MT are you still working at XN in wellington ? and if so are you involved in running this show ?

Portofino Restaurants Pro Figure/Bikini Grand Prix

For the first time New Zealand will be hosting the first International Professional Figure Bodybuilding show outside the United States.

The NZNPC in association with Portofino Restaurants and Nutrigenix present the New Zealand Pro Figure/Pro Bikini and Elite Amateur Championships 2010. This prestigious event will be held on the 20th of March at SKYCITY Theatre in Auckland City.

We will be bringing the top five IFBB Ms. Figure Olympia athletes to compete in our event. These include the likes of reigning Ms. Figure Olympia 2009 Nicole Wilkins-Lee, Ms. Bikini Olympia 2009 Sonia Gonzales, Top Ranked IFBB Professional Figure Australasia's best Rosa-Maria Romero, and New Zealand's own Top National ranked Figure Sesa Tomuli. Many other top Olympian Professional competitors will also participate.

Don't miss out on this first time ever prestigious event!

Show starts at 9am which is very early (espesh for the drive from the 'Tron) - I do hope there are some great athletes, I see the blurb states "include the likes of reigning Ms. Figure Olympia 2009 Nicole Wilkins-Lee, Ms. Bikini Olympia 2009 Sonia Gonzales" , so fingers crossed there are some fantastic figures to see & get us all inspired.

I do know Rosa-Maria is coming over from Oz. Sesa is competing, also Teneka Hyndman. Ive heard that Sheryl Paterson and Nikki Taylor will be competing also.

I'll be there to cheer the chickees on!

He hasn't posted on here in months. Got sick of having to defend NZFBB all the time after everyone bagging Moe etc, had enough and said he wouldn't be back here again, and true to his word, he doesn't seem to have been.

here's the latest update from go figure

11.20am Update.

Hi all, well I guess you're all wondering what's happening at this show. I didn't go but I do have a couple of correspondents who've been keeping me posted. They've been texting me about what's happening (or what's not) and it hasn't been pretty.

Here's a brief summary of the events.

- Athletes told to be at venue by 8.30am to get spray tanned.

- Doors open to public for 9am start.

- About 17 people in the audience and has risen to 37 at time of writing.

- 10am. No sign of Moe the contest organiser

- 10.30am. Audience and athletes told show will start at 11am

- 11.10am. Moe finally arrives

- 11.17am. Show starts

There's lots more surprising details to the actual contest rules of this comp which we'll cover more thoroughly later.

In the meantime lets finally get on with the show!

- 14 in amateur. Plus the Pro girls (not sure how many there)

- 2 in bikini (one gets Pro card today). 1 Nov Fig Tall. 1 Nov Fig Short. 4 Open Figure.

- 1 female physique, 1 jnr boy, 2 nov men u80kg

- 4 nov men o80kg, good class

- Judges for morning; Brian McFarlane, Mark Stewart and John Tuman

- No open men

11.57am; judges tallying up figure girls scores. One girl will get Pro card.

12.08pm; Teneka wins Open Figure! And can apply for Pro Card. Well done Teneka.

Jessie Foley, 2nd Bikini. Kirsty Thomson, 2nd Open Fig Short

12.35pm. Sesa on now in class of 3. 6 Pros altogether.

De Ja Vue - Auckland Champs all over again.

Not a big show by the sound of it - amazing as there was a pro card up for grabs by default. (Meaning - you didn't have to apply - it was preapproved). Just goes to show you need to do some promotion in order to bring in the numbers - could be quite damaging for the NZFBB. Very reminisant of INBA shows about 4 years ago ... may be Nabba will come in with the most solid shows this year?>

inerested to know how the judging was as they will be using the NPC guidelines and all judges having to be realigned.
