Happy birthday to us!

Tomorrow, this forum will be six years old. Happy birthday to us! :jive:

When I started the site, I had no idea it would last this long. (And there've been a couple of occasions where it nearly didn't!) But it has survived, and the thought of where we might be in another six years is very exciting.

There are a few things I'm proud of here, but ironically the one I'm most proud of is the one I can take least credit for... Our moderating team.

As the forum grows, it seems like the judgement calls that moderators have to make get harder and harder. But in the six years we’ve been online, I’m proud of the fairness and good faith our mods have brought to the role. These guys don't get paid. They seldom get thanked. But they do an amazing job, and we wouldn’t have got here without them. So thanks to our moderators, past and present.

Which brings me to our future. I'm pleased to announce Drizzt and Nate225 are going to join the moderating team. And I’m just as confident they'll continue our “moderately excellent” trend. As well as great judgement, mods need great people skills, and both these two have shown they have that in spades.

So put your cyber-hands together to welcome our new mods. Oh, and try not to frighten them off during the initial trial period, please. I’d like them to still be around in another six years. :grin:

Happy birthday! I'm very grateful for this site, and hope it goes on for many years to come. It's helped me heaps after bumbling along on my own for ages, and the progress I've made is directely related to the advice I've been given by some of the wonderful folk on here, and which I probably wouldn't have come across if not for a good local forum.
