dont do morning cardio.

but, before i do anything cardio based il have a sammy about an hour prior.

so, two slices of bread and maybe jam or honey.

afterwards, protein shake.

sometimes the shake has rolled oats blended into it.

most times just strait whey powder.

For early morning cardio, I'm lucky, I can do it at home, so it's a black coffee, two aspirin, but no carbs or protein, and after the workout and a cooldown it's my normal breakfast (oats-n-shake).

I'm prepared to be told I'm wrong (hell, it's already happened a couple of times, and that's just today  ) but I thought the benefit of early morning cardio was somewhat in doing it 'fasted' - ie before even a serve of protein or carbs.

Your not wrong TFB. I did the exact same thing except minus the asprin. but you have to cycle it so your body doesnt adapt to it...

(When doing cardio! ) I do the same as TFB, more because morning cardio is convenient and coffee helps push my low HR.

The coffee and aspirin thing TFB refers to comes from the old EFA stack, in which I am led to believe the caffiene, ephedrine & aspirin work synergistically to stimulate the CNS, giving more energy use thus increased fat loss. I'm not so sure it works without the ephedrine (which is now a prescription only item), but I'm happy to be proved wrong?

Empty vs full cardio is another topic.....

Same as Teamfatboy, i do my cardio in the morning at home, crosstrainer program with a double strength coffee in a sipper cup with straw (makes less mess), I have this weird need for sugar early on so I have a couple bits of extra gum first. If im feeling abit light headed I have a couple of prunes straight from the fridge. They're yummy.

after you finish training if you have your post workout shake would it be a problem to do a little cardio(crosstrainer at home) say 30 mins later?

of course not :D

i dunno much about cardio as you probably are aware. so if i do cardio post workout 30 min after having my carb/protein shake will that use the calories i consumed or burn fat or both?(doing minimal effort cardio such as crosstrainer/biking)

How much sugar is in extra gum? Or is that as an alternative to the sugar?

Excess consumption of that would def keep the weight down eh?

Extra is basically a sugarfree gum packed with artificial sweeteners.

On that topic has anyone used the caffiene gum? Comes from the US and is supposed to get good results with low dose caffiene as apparently absorbed sublingually.

I have tried it but didn't notice much, although a guy here has completed a study on it with significant results in power output increases (in cyclists from memory).

this was by me:S

bulking. ive always been a naturally lean person and still somewhat lean for a bulker in the arms and legs but my waist is slowly getting bigger and bigger. this is why a while ago i decided to incorporate a bit of cardio in my lifestyle.

i just wanted to see the pros/cons of cardio on a somewhat 'full' stomach. i do pretty relaxed cardio around 120-135 140 max heartrate.
