Drug Testing in NZ powerlifting

Hey Everybody,

Ive been pretty unactive on here so I apologise if this has already been covered and Im crap at researching this on the websites.

I am going to compete this year in powerlifting comps and was wondering if any of you guys/girls know what the restrictions are in terms of pre-workout supps (Jacked, Superpump etc etc) would these or ingrediants in them be frowned upon?

The New Zealand Powerlifting Federation has adopted the WADA rules for anti doping so banned substances are as per WADA. You would need to check the ingredients in these against the WADA list per link:

There were a couple of cases of lifters in Australia failing tests that were apparently due to tainted supplements so need to be careful, if you are unsure about something then might be best to leave it:

You can ring 0800 DRUGFREE (0800 378437) and ask them if the products have their ingredients listed.

If you aren't sure don't risk it - prohibited substances are treat as the athlete's responsibility - tainted supplements still equal a 2 year suspension, as referenced by Alf in the Aussie case.

I would concur with the above, there is always a risk of cross contamination in supps, but just do what Nate said ring up if you are unsure.

If the pre workout is this one USPlabs Jack3d then that would be a positive, but superpump is ok even though it would be classed as a stimulant by the powers that be, I would lookout for the Test Boosters too.
