Are the NZFBB going to give out trophy's this year....

However, if you place top 3 your prize should at least cover the cost of your entrance fee.

Yes I agree, it's a personal accomplisment of course.

I placed 2nd in 2008 - that was a great Nats in wellington for me though, the whole experience.

Place 3rd last year, so was annoyed about not getting any protein to cover the costs throughout the year, just a little token, you know we spend hundreds on supps, diet, comp prep etc....

I could be wrong here and correct me if i am

in the local comps there is sponsors so they cover the costs of prizes and even a tub of protien or some protien bars ive appreciated in the past

With the nats last year i was dissapointed with way it was run and i assume there was no sponsors except moes advertising of his own company.

so with no or not many sponsors i guess theres no prizes.

But in the end whatever prize will quickly get devoured but the medal will last a lifetime.

Lmao I didn't get it? At the CNI's and Nationals 2009 there was protein powders and stuff on stage (If you guys remember) but none of them got handed out? A medal imo are more important than a supplement.. But yeah, I'm still mad other comps through out the year had some supps! :@ (I think?)

Edit: Well said Trainharder!!!!!!

okay sorry didnt realise that

i know with the wgtn nzfbb there were sponsors pretty much for each class entered.

the organisers spend a bit of time and effort approaching businesses to get them to be involved and assist financially.

not sure what happened at the nationals though.

i would have thought it was the more important comp to organise and is the pinacle of the whole year.

i prefered the way the wgtn show was run thanks to Terry Hills

i dint see any other local comps so cant compare them sorry

It's always nice to get a trophy preferably with the event, year and placing on . I look back 15 years or so and the trophy tells me what I achieved. There has been a trend as of late to give trophies with no placing on . This is to save the cost of trophies being left over.

However I have these unlabelled trophies from contests where I came first but it doesn't say.

Medals are a waste of time because usually they don't have the placing on and sometimes don't even have the grade. You can't put these on display, they just get thrown in a drawer somewhere.

Jimjim, not a great statement that one. Libelous too.....

For what it's worth, when Mastertel runs shows, sponsors line up to give product out (I know I used to), but why would anyone in the protein game support a Moe run show?

I think you will find it not Libelous as no one is named. :?

Just a Guess

but id say Bronze was 3rd, silver 2nd and i could be wrong but im sure gold was 1st.

its a pretty sad state of affairs when they aren't even giving out trophies, even if they are crappy plastic ones. does anyone know the rough cost to run a show?I'm guessing 10k wouldn't be to hard to raise from ticket sales and comp fee's?

you guess wrong!!! the south islands cost from 12000 to 15000.

medals at a cost of $12 each plus set up, Cups for overalls (3) Cost me well over $400. If you went trophy even the most insignificant ones cost a fortune. in the NZFBB you have 30 classes 3 tropes for each it would cost you at least 100 to 150 per class that $3000 to $4500 in tropes alone!

and in many posts in the past people have complained about the entry costs of shows/memberships etc. if we increased these costs to the athlete (if you do the Le Race cycle race that is $95 entry to ride on a road you can ride on any day of the week) in line with other sports maybe we could go back to trophies.

HOWEVER i am aware of an Overall National Winner from last Yr that has still not received her Overall Trophy, so as an EX event organizer and an EX NZFBB judge i can sympathize with some of the other concerns raised

We supplied trophies for the Wellington Nabba show. There are relatively cheap tophies not much more than the cost of a medal. Not all grades have 3 placings so we use these for the next year so saving costs. The year is put on the trophies on the day.

We ended up giving out about 35 trophies.

Nice to know the medals were colour coded as both my NZFBB medals just have the name of the competition on. They don't even have the division I competed in. I ended up using a marker to put the result on the back so I knew what it was for.

In defence of medallions, I actually like them.

When I started the CCI 4yrs ago I selected medallions over trophies for a number of reasons.

Firstly, trophies can usually look cheap and tacky, not many people make decent trophies here in Aust, they are all shit if you ask me.

Secondly trophies are a pain in the arse for presentation photos.

Medallions look much better and if you use Bronze, Silver and Gold, (which I do), then it is easy to see who placed where in magazine photos.

Thirdly, they are easy for competitors to transport, especially if they come from Interstate or Overseas.

Trophies are easy to break when you travel.

Having said that, there are some really shit medallions out there too.

I got mine hand made.

Each one is similar, but none are the same.

Each one has slightly different imperfections, none are exactly the same.

They are a bit smaller than a CD and they are steel, (not plastic). They cost me around $100 each.

I got them done so they looked old and hardcore.

The year and class are stamped on the back.

I hope you like them.

was just having a conservative guess at revenue , just out of interest if you can say, what did your show raise?

I can understand the need for watching costs, It is nice to have a decent something to remember the show and hard work put in so at least the overalls and maybe first placers can get a good trophy.
