No point guessing food intake. You need to work out how many calories you're eating vs how many you're burning, so that you have a starting point for planning your food intake.

You could have the best meal plan ever but it won't matter much if you're not eating close to the right amount of calories for your goals. If you have no idea what that amount of calories is, not even roughly, then my suggestion is to take a moment to figure it out so that you have a baseline to work with.

IMO if you want to drop some bodyfat, drop the calories a bit from the carbs (and muesli bars? no-no), make some of the fat do the work (your bodyfat), nuts are good to get this going, but "throughout the day" sounds a bit broad and too much of a good thing also, I would keep your portion to not much more than a palm full. Include them in a meal say afternoon tea with your protein, and eat every 2-3 hours (I prefer 2.5-3). I'd try and ditch some of your carbs later in the day, again, depending on when you do your resistance training if you want to lose some fat. See how your energy levels feel. Always keep water up!

Cheers

Not questioning anyones advice, but the guy hasn't even worked out how many calories he's eating. Unless you've taken the time to work it out for him, what point is there suggesting he add eggs, eat less carbs, etc etc?

Totally fair, I was more saying that the muesli bars aren't so good in that area as they contain hollow calories. Should have been more clear....

what do you mean by hollow calories? just interested

Argh, I think I might go and eat some carbs as I am not making sense to myself!.....must...not...give....advice...when...on...a...low...carb...day...

What I "think" I meant; lets face it, muesli bars are for people who really want to eat a chocolate bar but it's been bred into them that the muesli bar is healthier... :pfft: :pfft:

Hmm, yea, there is alot of that view around huh? Muesli bars are generally just packed full of sugar anyway.

Kind like the whole One Square Meal thing, market something as healthy and people tend to buy into it, lower the fat content of something and people are clawing for it. Normally they just pump it full of sugar to make it taste good.

I actually had someone tell me that the lolly the were offering me had no fat in it (not that I'm concerned but people tend to think I am).

Generalising of course. I should just say "I choose not to eat muesli bars" :pfft:

Agree 100% - It's the 99% fat free brainwashed culture we live in.....

But, back on topic, I second what Rose says.

To have an idea of how much you should be eating you should know how many calories your burning a day. Need to take into account things like your job and how often you train etc etc.

 So many variables. e.g. I work in IT, so I need to do extra cardio to keep the horrible stuff at bay, as typing doesn't constitute cardio :) ....
