NFS Kre-Alkalyn

I've just finished a cycle of NFS' Kre-Alkalyn and was quite impressed. I've tried regular creatine fairly often, and never quite been convinced that it was doing much. My response was usually, "Well, it might be working..."

With Kre-Alkalyn it was more like, "Yeah... I think it's working." So that's an improvement! And to be fair, since I was cutting and on low carbs, it probably wasn't the optimal environment for the product to really shine in.

For the uninitiated, Kre-Alkalyn is a buffered creatine. NFS says this prevents it from degrading to creatinine.

Major advances in creatine analysis and processing technology have made it possible for us to finally correct creatine's biggest flaw...the very one that's responsible for all the bloating, cramping and side effects so many people have endured when using creatine. That flaw is creatine's low pH level. Even better, you now only have to use 1.5- 3 grams...all without the hassles of loading or cycling.

It cost me $45 for 120 capsules. I took six capsules on workout days, and two caps on non-workout days (when I remembered). This was in accordance with their instructions on an old brochure the retailer gave me, which from memory went like this:

70-80kg = 4 caps

80-90kg = 6 caps

90-100kg = 8 caps

> 100kg = 10 caps

The container just said 2-10 caps a day, which left a lot of room for guessing. They now seem to have changed their minds, and the official website (http://www.getkrealkalyn.com) says you don't need more than four.

I tried to take them an hour before the workout as suggested, but I don't think this actually happened very often. Because I was cutting, I did not take them with carbs (For maximum strength increases, NFS recommends 1g glucose per kilo of bodyweight 20 mins after taking Kre-Alkalyn).

I'm pretty certain I noticed an increase in strength, despite the low carb diet. I didn't notice much of a pump, which was disappointing - although again this might have been a result of the diet.

Didn't notice any side effects, but then I never did with regular creatine, either. The only negative I can think of was swallowing six capsules got a little tiresome - but that's not a major problem.

Other than that, no complaints. I'd be keen to give Kre-Alkalyn another try under more favourable conditions next time.

I used to take it aswell (my first creatine), but the older version..in powder form..i got the same results as you..but i only used it before workouts like the instuctions said..not for recuperation/off-days...thats where it was lacking..

Have you tried Kaizen's Micronized Creatine?

it seems to be doing something for me  i loose about 1kg of water everytime i cycle off it..

OK, this is coming from someone who works at EAS, so keep this in mind but here are some facts about creatine you may find helpful...

1. We already have a good store of creatine in our body, except nothing to the levels of once you start supplementing with creatine monohydrate.

2. Creatine is stored in muscle as "creatine phosphate" hence why EAS named their leading creatine products "Phosphagen".

3. EAS first brought creatine (as well as HMB) to the market in 1993 as Phosphagen. Now everyone copies it.

4. If you follow the typical protocol of 2 X 5g serves not less than 1-12 hours apart (1 teaspoon) of creatine on a training day and 1 serve on a non-training day, with some change in serve size due to body weight, you do not need to load for this product to work effectively...HOWEVER IT CAN TAKE UP TO 1 MONTH FOR YOUR MUSCLES TO BECOME FULLY SATURATED IN CREATINE. Loading simply speeds up the process of getting benefits from your creatine.

5. If you combine a simple glycemic (fast releasing) carb with creatine (such as dextrose, glucose, grape juice), plus an insulin (your storage hormone) mimicker such as Taurine, you can potentially store approx' 160% more creatine in your muscles due to the improved transport. This is why EAS product also makes Phosphagen HP & Elite= Phosphagen High Performance, which is creatine plus a transport system.

6. Practically all creatine studies that show creatine works began with creatine monohydrate...plain creatine...and yes, all studies showed it works!

7. The next load of studies, even around today, are plain creatine monohydrate vs. creatine plus "named company" which no doubt includes carbs. Of course it makes it look better, as I explained above, carbs improve creatine uptake!

8. Creatine is the most studied bodybuilding supplement of all time and is now pronouced as being very, very safe when used in sensible dosages.

9. Long term studeise show you do not have to cycle creatine i.e. stop using it for a time, if you do not want to. It is safe to continue using it for extended periods.

10. Creatine does begin to slowly turn into the useless substance creatinine whe water is added to it. Creatine is unstable in water. This is why Muscle Marketing was sued into bankrupsy with there terrible "Creatine Serum" which was creatine pre-made with a dropper.

11. Providing you mix your creatine in liquid and consume it within 20 minutes max, you should have no major problems with creatine breakdown. Although I personally leave it in dry form in the car and consume it with a carb (I use Phosphagen Elite), mixed iwth water and drink it imediately, avoiding any creatine breakdown.

12. THe way creatine loads means a dose prior to wokrouts is not critical as you should already have been significatnly loaded already right? Therefore, the most important time to consume creatine is directly after training. The other dose can be taken any other time of the day.

13. Kre-Alkalyne products by NFS take advatage of the creatine breakdown theory so be careful of their claims. The PH of water claim means nothing if you are drinking it straight away.

14. Bottom line is, use a creatine that is proven to work for some time and results will follow. Remember, EAS Phospahgen creatine has been proven numerous times to work and has done so since 1993.

So what's your take on the Creatine Ethyl Esters and TriMalate Creatine? One dose prior to a workout is all you need, no messy powders etc. I'd have to say that USN Creatine X4 (a creatine ethyl ester) is honestly the best creatine product I've ever used.

Id have to do some research on that one. Products can also have a big dependance on what other synergistic products they have combined with it for example, I dont respond to creatine anywhere near as good as some of my past training partners, but I respond well to Phosphagen Elite because it also includes Beta-Alanine: a carnosine producing product. Have you got a good link on Creatine Ethyl Esters and TriMalate Creatine for reference?

Hey Musclearmour - do you really work for EAS or is that just some kind of chat up line?

Jokes aside, you might be able to answer a question for me?

Who manufactures EAS Creatine? My understanding is that Pfanstiehl produces creatine in the USA and along with Creapure from Germany, are recognised as producers of the highest quality creatine available. EAS Phosphagen however has no reference to Pfanstiehl or Creapure. Are you able to fill me in on who manufactures it for them? If they don't use Pfanstiehl or Creapure, do EAS provide an HPLC test sheet?

Nah, I'm not too much of a chemist, I did politics at uni...and failed...but I do know what products work and what don't. Before we go any further I'll admit I'm a fan of Phosphagen HP, when I used to use it, it worked. here's the USN product, it has beta alanine too.

CreatineX4 provides a revolutionary form of creatine which does not rely on insulin for its uptake. Creatine Ethyl Ester HCL is a fat soluble form of creatine which penetrates muscle cells at a rapid rate. This allows muscle ATP to regenerate much faster, thereby allowing for lightning-quick muscle recovery during workouts. Muscle cells can function at maximum efficiency throughout the workout.

Each serving supplies 1000mg of glycine. Glycine is an amino acid that retards muscle degeneration by supplying additional creatine. It also helps repair damaged muscle tissue. Beta Alanine is added to the formulation as it plays a major role in the transfer of both nitrogen and nutrients.

CreatineX4 is the new generation creatine that could be the supplement you were waiting for to take your physical performance to the next level.

Consult you physician before use if you suffer from a medical condition

haha its not a steroid or anything. honestly when you come off it u probably wont notice too much of a difference - i didnt anyway.

i know the nfs creatine says you dont have to cycle it i used to take it alot and did month on, month off.

also says u dnt get the "bloat" well ive just finished a monohydrate cycle and i didnt get a bloat or much water retention.

who knows? i dont think its any better than other creatine supplements,

i think they all pretty much of a muchness (just my opinion)

and i find the only people who disagree are biased cause they sell it or ..... etc
