Bran question

I made some muffins from the recipe section, just wondering on the "Edmonds Wheat Bran" i bought from supermarket it says per 100g 1210kj, protein 5.4g, fat total 1g, carbs 24.0, sugars 3.6g, DIETARY fibre 44.4g.

Usually I used to subtract fibre from carbs to get the carb count, but in this case 24 - 44.4 = -20.4, any idea how this works? Or how much is the real carb count?

thanks

Thanks but could someone explain why

"One cup of raw broccoli flowerets has a total of about 4 grams of carbohydrates. However, 2 of those grams come from fiber. Since the body gets no calories from the fiber portion (and there is no rise in blood sugar from it), we say that there are 2 grams ECC in the broccoli. "

I was on dave palumbo/mostly healthy fats anabolic diet so carb count is very important and need to keep it very low.

thanks!

You just answered your own question, a total of 4g carbs but 2g are fibre so your body gets no calories from them therefore 2g ecc.

I think your getting confused between carbs and total carbs, the total carbs on the bran would be 68.4g (24g + 44.4g fibre).

Yes I am getting confused between carbs and total carbs!! So that explains i guess, 24g carbs/100g damn thats not low carb at all!
