Big legs WITHOUT squats?

I found the squats brought up my teardrop, i found the leg press gave me a good sweap.

My results are similar

Interesting as I have found the opposite. Years of squatting as a powerlifter and I had great sweeps but very average teardrops. The thing I found really hit these were full range leg press.

I just use weighted hyper extensions. Bro go for the deadlifts man. If it's working wonderfully for you, go for gold! But people go around saying you will never have a good over all back or spinal erecters without them?? Please..

Yes I would disagree if somebody said you can't have a good over-all back without deadlifts.

Sounds like hypers do a good job then, I was thinking deadlifts are fairly fundamental for hypertrophy the in spinal erectors and lower back, but if hypers do the job then obviously the deadlift isn't so crucial - Although if the hyper's didn't work for other people, I would strongly recommend deadlift as an alternative

Can you use more weight for hypers or for deadlifts? For bang for your buck dedlifts rule, they thicken the entire back. Do you tink ronnies or dorians backs would be as developed if the did hypers instead of deads? I think people just need to HTFU and hit the basics hard.

Lmao, why do you use those two for example? Why didn't you use Dennis Wolf?

What works for you, works for you. Enough said lol.

what do you mean by full range?

LOL - full range for me & you will mean two different things, simply because it's been a while since I had a 30" waist! :pfft:

When doing PLing & SM mytraining has been purely functional - i.e. aimed at helping my move as much weight as possible in an explosive fashion. Leg Press was really an after thought as it didn't really have much carry over (although heavy partials for truck pull maybe?). As such I tended to do realitively shallow presses (and I say this with the understanding the depth is pretty subjective in most gyms) with big weights (400-550kg mainly). Recently I did some higher rep work and pushed depth as low as possible (with a big weight this would destroy my back as it tends to flex / tuck in leg press when going very deep). My teardrops pumped up like I'd never experienced and they were sore for days!

Probably worth adding I squat reasonably wide, maybe a narrow stance high bar approach would target teardrops more?

Nate

how many olympias has dennis wolf won? but in hindsight what works for one person may not work for others but for the majority performing the big three at least at some point will only do you good

I built 70cm legs (don't know if it's a lot or not) mostly on the leg press. I can't say that I've never squat but I wasn't able to go above 100kg for 20 reps in it. But could increase leg press weights 5-10 kg every week.

So still everyone is different.

Lol TT, That's the thing. Denis does do deads. Yet people say his lower back isn't all that great? :)

Hawks lol. Show us your gargantuan legs and back! Post what deads n squats has achieved so I can believe!!!

LOL Loochi I can vouch Hawk's legs are pretty sharp size and condition wise. Those that know him will also say he's regularly squatting 220 plus.

:pfft: gold

I hear sprints are good, but anything more than that - just look at endurance / marathon runners, they look like wippets.

On the other hand the sprinters (100m), some have great quads, good muscle, genetics comes into play too.

True LMO,

But the genetics things play a huge part remembering that we only see the elite sprinters on TV as a general rule (who are a mere fraction of those competing in athletics).

Also dont be fooled that sprinting built those sticks alone - Mr Jonston was reknown for some fairly big numbers on the squat as well as other things!

200kgx20 was the figure I heard.
