Eating out

What do you guys order when you go to restaurants, for example you have to go to a Thai place for your parents birthday or something... do you just order plain rice with stirfry or? I am thinking the soups from Thai places must be low fat, and chuck some chicken in or something?

Steamed Basmati or brown rice, not fried...

Go nuts on the veggies as long as they're not stir-fried, and look for options for 'dry' curries without the yoghurt, creamy sauces, coconut cream, stuff like that.

Grilled chicken's something a lot of places can make easy enough - it's ok to ask the waiter.

If it's not Thai, Chinese or Indian, look for caesar salads or leafy-green salads with grilled chicken or salmon, and get them to put the salad dressing "on the side".

I'm another one for just enjoying it. I rarely eat out these days, so when I do, I don't bother too much about what I have, but just try to make sure that it fits in with the rest of the day's or week's eating.

I wouldn't say I go mad and eat the equivalent in sat fat and bad carbs as, say, fish and chips - but I don't stress out too much about it.

Im with you guys, when I eat out especially during competition time, I always go for the steak grilled of course, no sauce double helping of veg and hold the spuds. Oh and my treat is trim cappu. The hardest part is when your with family and they have the bread and dips to start :naughty:

If I'm dieting (which I assume is why the Q) Steak or fish plain and plain veges (no starchy's) or green salad with no dressing. used to even get anal and ensure they didn't fry in ghee (clarified butter) etc (which would be OK if it were lunch time IMO) and as I normally eat a 200gm steak, if it's any bigger, thats the treat and I savour it.

Cheers

If I'm eating out and it's a non-cheat meal, I'll usually stick with a steak. If everyone else are having starters I ask for a bowl of leafy salad (with no dressings) or some veges so that I'm not sat there feeling like a gooseberry being the only one not eating. If they get desserts (which of course they ALWAYS do.. ha ha) I'll get a herbal/peppermint tea or a coffee.

You need to be careful of some salads (esp caesar salad) as the dressings/cheese/croutons etc. can really bump up the calorie count.
