Good luck to all those lifting today!

If anyone can nabbed a bit of footage for us mere mortals that would be appreciated

Go Hard Out!

Sorry, no footage. Was a good day. Thought there would be some more people there, good Kiwi turnout. I can tell you the boys from Nauru get into it!

Damn, I'd be happy to press half the weight some of those guys are pushing.

Yeah it was a good day indeed, my first time to a Power Lifting comp, and absolutely loved it. Yes those boys from Nauru were going crazy with the weights, very impressive indeed. I also got to meet Tonka, very cheerful chap he is. He probably wasn't at his best today as he only went as far as 287KG. Might actually check out East Side Bar bell at some stage.

Will get some footage of the big boys up soon. Stephen Pritchard took out the overall tittle with 270kg at 124 bodyweight. Tonka edged out Australian Nathan Baxter of Australia who benched 280kg at bodyweight of 160kg. Baxter blacked out on his first lift so was a great come back and only 3 points between these guys.

Tough day at the office for a lot of lifters. I managed 3 really heavy negatives but apparently built heaps of character

I obviously didn't yell loud enough in support. Some big lifts though. All you guys did well.

Were there many plastic shirts there....

Hey NZMM, you've obviously got some issue with the bench shirts (or squat suits/knee wraps etc) because you're pretty quick to spout off about how they can do this and how they do that. Either that or you're just having dig or piss-take at the sport which your entitled to do but seriously mate, consider that there are people on this forum with very little experience and knowledge about strength sports and when they see the comments that you like dropping in now and again, can make assumptions about something on VERY LITTLE INFORMATION.

I'm not going to go on about how bench shirts work because you've probably read all about it on one of the many BB or Strength forums off the net and from that, made you an expert on bench press shirt and what it can do. Next thing you'll start saying if you lie the shirt on the bench under 60kg, it will miraculously press it on its own.

You're probably not interested in one anyway but I have to ask the question, have you ever worn a shirt?

If you're interested please post back (if not, whatever), I'm more than happy (as are the many other PL'ers that use or scan this forum) to learn more about the bench shirts from a self proclaimed expert like yourself.

Bench pressing with a shirt is like a basketballer doing a slam dunk on a pogo stick.

Well done Tonka  It cracks me up how the very people who accuse others of hating or whatever are themselves so bloody negative. They contribute nothing meaningful to the forum and drive people with genuine intentions away.

Im 89kg...and can get 2x sets of 140kg at 8-10reps each...but then the rest of my chestworkout fails as my chest is screwed after that...

No, its not. Its a sport. A sport that requires you to wear gear. A bench shirt is part of the gear. A pro basketballer would likely wear pro shoes. Its really no different.

I gotta question why you attach so much importance to what someone can lift. Its like you have inferiority issues or something. Its kinda pathetic that you keep coming on here to post lame one line comments that belittle others sporting achievements. Tall Poppy syndrome is closer to home bro. Deal with it.

Hahaha calm down Gloria.... looks like you want to give Tonka your pogo stick.

I don’t expect anyone to like plastic shirts and that’s fine. In fact a lot of lifters that use them are not even big fans but it is part of the sport. And it is the sport that they enjoy.

I just struggle to see why you have so much anger NZMM? Did you forget to take your meds today?

If you show a picture of Jay Cutler to someone in the street 90% of them would say that he looked ugly, yet many on this forum aspire to look half as big as Jay. I think this is what is referred to as people having different opinions. Sounds crazy I know. I think most people on this forum understand this and respect others opinions. It is good to discuss these different opinions and it’s a great way of sharing information and learning. If you are happy spending your time posting rubbish and just generally being a big “pogo stick” then good on you. I will just ignore anything that you post as it will be a waste of my time reading it.

I look forward to ignoring your reply. Will you use any words longer than 4 letters or just use a pretty picture?

Don't want to bring up the shirts again but I can't see a problem with them. Like lycra and cylcing, shark skin suits and swimming and boxing gloves. I can't see the point in taking away slings from shooters, oxygen from divers and tight shirts from rugby.

I think that the anti shirt crew out there can't bench heavy and are jealous and/or are just in love with you guys and want to see you all benching naked. Shitting on bench shirts makes them feel superior for their weak lifts.

Whether you like them or not as a competitor is a different story but I imagine most of the anti shirt crew don't compete and never will.

If you don't like them don't use them but don't bitch about them either.
