Enjoyed the show today, and a huge thanks to the lovely Sakura and her partner for the ride and the great company throughout the day

A highlight for me was that there were several classes that were in the 'oooh that's too close to call' category, which is the way it should be - if a complete noob like me can pick the winners easily, it's not a competition.

Most exciting nailbiting category for me was between Neralee and Annette - wow, what a couple of beautiful women, both with different strengths, but IMO both equally gorgeous. Annette had the most stunning back, but Neralee's glutes are just amazing. I was cheering for Neralee who I think was the only Welly competitor, but in the end it was Annette that took it.

Other highlights for me were the two winners of the best routines. Nuriya (sp?) did an amazing Michael Jackson routine that was just so energetic and something I'd love to see more of. The guy, whose name I can't remember, was just utterly adorable and should also have won a prize for the most winning smile :D

The final men's overall category was also a really good one, for me really hard to pick who was going to take it.

I also really enjoyed the powerlifting intermission - wow! Also great to see Thorndon representing on stage in a helping capacity, with Hayley Freeman as the lovely assistant on stage during the prizegivings and Philly Nuku spotting on one side of the bench press for the powerlifting.

Lowlight was the glamour category. I just don't get it. Don't want to bag the girls personally as anyone who can get up on stage in a bikini has my respect, but as a category I really don't see what it has to do with bodybuilding and why there is a need for it in this type of show.

Oh yeah, and boys - loved the pants with the pink spangly bits - nice touch!

Yup, it was a great show. Very entertaining and some amazing bods.

Loved the powerlifting in the intermission. One guy set an unofficial BP record (I think 225kg @ 82.5BW) and another did 100kg for 28 reps!

Also gotta agree about the Glamour class. Having a fitness related question in the 'Question Round' (yes, there was a question round  ) isn't enough to justify having Glamour in a bodybuilding comp. Will there ever be a "I Don't Work Out But I'm Thinking About It" round?

No digs at the girls themselves, just the concept.

Anyway, it was a great show! Thanks to everyone who organised it and to all the competitors for a prime perve session, um...I mean, for the motivation. :shifty:

Was it Toa or something similar? The young fulla that won the novice. Yeah, he was a cutie. ...

...I think Chilli had a wee crush :shifty: :pfft:

Was an awesome comp, the first I have been to in a few years and I enjoyed the one show format with winners announced straight away.

Here is the footage we got from the bench display. It was a great atmosphere and the crowd were awesome. There was a small amount of artistic license taken on our behalf, although I complete at 82.5kg was closer to 86kg yesterday.

Thanks to Kingsley, Rod and Dave for the opportunity. Also, big ups to the crowd  the atmosphere contributed a lot to the day and definitely helped me squeeze out that last attempt.

Great reports, thanks guys! Any pics?

I didn't realise they were running this format, but here's hoping it catches on. It's a much better idea than splitting the show in two, both from a spectator's point of view, and for recruiting new competitors (you're much more likely to enter a show if you've seen the whole thing rather than just half of it!)

The only downside I can see would possibly be the length of the show - how long did it go for?

Lisa from Go Figure took loads of pics which are up on her site now.

As for the format, I thought it was great, far better than heading all the way out to a venue and having to twiddle your thumbs for 4 hours between morning and evening shows. And it was great to see the routines first then see them all up on stage for comparisons afterwards, followed by the posedown. Worked for me.

This one started a wee bit late at 12.30 and ran til just before 4.30, so 4 hours from start to finish.

Tks Pseudo. We are verry happy how the show came together. The calibre of all the athletes was excellent & on behalf of the CHC Organising Team I would like to extend our grattitude to those that got in behind our movement & made this a great day for all. The show ran for 4 hours including intermission & the Bench Press Expo. I dont recall seeing anyone walk out before the final overall was announced. So it would seem that there was interest right up till the end.

Big High Five    to all the team that worked so hard leading up to & on the day - Kingsley, Dave, Richard, Speedy, Cath, Annette, Lisa, Pete. To our NZ officials & support crew - Missy Ann Hawkins, Mark Anderson, Gary Jones, Leanne Grinrod-Simays, Alex Simays, Allen Stubbington, Maree Stubbington, Naera Johnson, Phily Nuku & to our Australian Officials & competitors - Graeme Lancefield, Mark Ryan, Phil Muscat, David Boscaglia, Brian McNichol, Blair Loveday & Jim Kotantonis & Huge thanks to Athlete-X & Evolution Systems - Wendy & Gary & all the other sponsors & helpers. Also my real appreciation & thanks to the 350+ people that came to watch this first show by our federation in NZ

I would like to say the very first NABBA-WFF was a great experience for the competitors and spectators as they got to see how a bodybuilding show should be run They started with the running of the WFF ( athletic bodies ) were they did there routine which helped pumped up the body so when they all came out for there compulsory posing they were pumped up. When that was done they all did a two minute pose down while the judges tallied up the scores for 1st, 2nd, 3rd placing ( By having them all doing the pose down made it very entertaining were as other federations will only have 3 doing pose down.)

It was great to see the spectators there to the end as this is a first I have seen at a bodybuilding show. It was good to see a big team from Auckland and a small one from Wellington also the NABBA-WFF men from AUS there working together to make it a great show.

The finishing time made it great for all family and friends to enjoy the after function.

I totally agree with you about seeing Neralee and Annette. What two amazing bodies! Neralee had amazing shoulders and glutes, I think that was a very close competion between them. I think Neralee had the better structure. Well dont to you both. The show was very well run and well worth the money and trip down. After seeing incredible figures like that, it gives inspiration to us all. That would be one of the best shows in NZ I have been to, well done guys, awesome effort with great results.

Haven't posted in ages but this show was enough to wake me up :). Absolutely loved it. Some awesome bod's on dislpay and really well run. Big ups to the organisers! It was also great to see a big crowd there, ChCh (well NABBA anyway) has been a bit lacklustre the last few years, this should spark things up.

The bench press display at half time was a great idea although it left me feeling slightly inadequate as I am close to the same weight as Best Bench :).

Also loved Nuria Novoa, what an awesome figure and great routine. Thumbs up again.

Well done NABBA/WFF, nice work, see you this time next year (on stage this time).

Unofficial Overall Results

WFF Miss Athletic Overall Winner- Niki Taylor

WFF Mr Athletic Overall Winner - Tom Wojcik

NABBA Women Overall Winner - Annette Gallaher

NABBA Men Overall Winner - Richard Parnham.

Awesome show , the guys down south Dave, Rod , Kingsley, Richard ,Annette, Lisa and alot of others that were helping showed some real good southern hospitality and all athletes were shown respect. The officials that came over from Aus and helped out were great and a real positive bunch. I think that any competitors that are wanting to compete in a positive environment and have a good experience should step over and have a go in a NABBA / WFF comp . Food was put on back stage great competitor packs were handed out and the prizes that the many sponsors handed out were great. This would be the best run show I have been to in this country .

The guys down south should be very proud of themselves and give themselves a slap on the back.

Alan (Hawks) was going to do Open Figure then decided against it when he realised that the ladies (Annette and Neralee) looked way better in a g-string than he did :pfft: - he got a bit depressed that he wouldn't be able to wear his clear high heels for this one - but maybe next time around - he's very much in touch with his feminine side - exactly like Rod

Al did Nabba Masters - Andrew.

In all, we couldn't of wished for a better show in NZ ever. We finally managed to catch up with everyone and it was such a nice relaxing show - very much family orientated (one show format) which allowed for everyone just to kick back and chill out.

To our good friends, Dave, Lisa, Rod, Kings (what time did you get home in the end on Sunday by the way Kingsley :pfft:) Richard, Annette, Neralee, Darrin and his lady, all the Aussie contingent, Graeme, Phil, Mark, Blair, David, Big Jimmy, the competitors, sponsors, friends, family, we thank you all. Your kindness, openness towards all competitors, in making sure that they were relaxed and having a great time was fantastic. Lisa Bailey, I saw her around backstage and calming competitors. That was great to see. Steph, you looked fabulous and we hope to see you again on stage soon. Lisa Menzies, tried my hardest to get away from her bloody camera - that didn't work, pretty difficult when you are in the middle of tanning a competitor - then all you hear is a "CLICK"!! Arrr

Finally to our bub Bronson, you were awesome, such a great little trooper - in giving out prizes to some of the contestants - I do believe he won the crowd, judges and the competitors over - way to go babe.

More shows on the horizon. The Nabba International will be held in Melbourne 23 May which we will be attending - this is always a great show. Hopefully there will be a few other kiwis that will be going also as supporters. Lisa - tell D that we want to see him there too :)

Terry Roberts Max's Grand Prix Championships on Sunday 16th Of May. Maxs NSW State Championships Sydney - Sunday 30th May.

June 5th WFF Universe in Katerini Greece, Mark Ryan's Southern Hemisphere Championships 6th June and then the Nabba International Worlds Championships in Buggiba Malta Saturday 19th.

To all our kiwi competitors that will be attending these shows, good luck guys, have fun and we hope to catch up with you all again soon.

You looked very impressive Allan, nice to put a bod to the name. Great lats! And yes, Bronson was very cute, I espically liked his little "your welcome" comment to Kingsley :).
thanks mate nice comment , however i think i stuffed up my diet in the last week i should be going on stage today had a light train and after a weekend of carbs the skin was really tight and vascular , aint it always the way . However my reasons for competing in the show was not a personal thing it was my way to show support for a new federation one that puts the athletes first and although i am not fond of the whole dieting thing anymore i had a great time in christchurch and enjoyed the comraderie that was there . was a good weekend.
