squat over x5 BW

It's not a real squat if you do it in cheater-gear.

i understand where your coming from as im not a big fan of shirts and suits. with the squat i think its acceptable because of the width they squat and the amount of torque in the hips for the saftey factor, it helps a bit with strength because you are tighter. on the other hand with the bench shirts its not reducing the torque as they go super wide to reduce rom and shoulder rotation so the torque reduction is done through the form not through the shirt. so adding the shirt is blantently assisting the lifter to push more weight. also its cheating because they can hold all that tension like a spring during the pause.

with that said i think thats bs with pausing...they dont get people to pause at the bottom of a squat? why dont they start making box squats a competitive lift if theyre going to be using suits? also pausing should be a deadstop then a press shouldnt need some tard to count and tell you when to lift. if you press too early you should be disqualified and learn from your mistakes. like a squat or a deadlift the only reason they go even further down or emphasize the lockout is to garuntee the lift not because some tard says they need to.

I think Sam Byrd has registered a 700lb raw squat.

Because of the 24 hour weigh in, his true weight in that video would be well over 100kg - he's known for his ability to cut weight for a weigh in then put it back on for the competition. Still very impressive, though.

He has a wicked build as well:

Incredible Squat at 90kg  Just putting that on your back is impressive let alone squatting it.

Also incredible that no one has mentioned his plastic suit, NZMM must be having a day off.

He doesn't even look that happy at the end. Must be because he knows that lifting while wrapped in plastic is not real lifting.
