Guarana Lift

The last few days I have been so tired - haven't been bothered to go to the gym and I've been eating lollies etc. It is exam time as well so I thought I would go buy myself a "pick me up" supplement. I purchased "Vita-Fit Guarana Lift" (NZ Made Product :) ). The label on the container reads:-

Take 1-2 capsules at times when extra energy is required. Can repeat once during the day. A niacin flush may be experienced.

WHAT IS A NIACIN FLUSH????

Also it says to tale well away from protein. Why would that be?

The ingredients include:- Guarana (500mg), Gingko-Biloba(1000mg), Panax Ginseng(500mg), Gotu Kola (250mg), L-Tyrosine(130mg), L-glutamine(100mg), Niacin(5mg), Cayenne (10mg), Ginger(10mg), Chromium(50mcg).

Unless the other ingredients have an amplification effect, I doubt whether you'd notice any flushing from that amount, Tallulahangie.

Niacin (vitamin B3) is used by some bodybuilders to help them pump up for a competition. In my experience it takes about 20mins to kick in, and the flush lasts for about 30mins. It's worth playing with - it's, ummm... an interesting experience. The first time you try it, start with no more than 100-200mg. You can pick it up from the supermarket vitamin aisle.

Here's what Wikipediasays about it:

Because niacin in large quantities is a vasodilator, large doses of niacin (either from vitamin B3 tablets or from treated meats) may cause harmless and short-lived but unpleasant symptoms such as extreme skin flushing resembling a sunburn, itching, gastric disturbances, and lowering of blood pressure.

It would make a great April Fool's day prank on unsuspecting friends, too. But don't overdose them - that would be nasty. It's quite effective enough as it is.

If you need a wake up jolt, stick with caffeine ? You get a 100 tabs at 200mg strenght from Prolab on supplementsonline for only$20.

Taurine helps too, it can be purchased seperately and used to give you a bit of a kick.

Thats what I use for exam time and 14 hour work shifts.. . . when cutting.
