Name is Nick, Im 26 and been into bodybuilding for the last 8 months. I've been looking around this site for a long time but never really said hi or anything. In the past I've tried to get into weights but would always become injured due to poor technique or a PT getting me onto programs which my body just couldn't handle. I use to be plagued with lower back issues and my left shoulder was always slightly dislocating hence becoming painful to do anything with my left arm.

About 2 years ago, my friend who is PT at Pro Fitness here in Christchurch convinced me to do the city 2 surf fun run. And as I needed a challenge it seemed like a good idea to get fit again. After 10 weeks of training I did it under an hour so was happy with that. After that I decided to do several half marathons which I highly enjoyed. Ended up running at least 2 hours every day and weights at the gym, the problem with this I became even skinnier.....

The day I decided to get into bodybuilding was when I mentioned a mate of mine I would like to bulk up, and she almost broke into hysterics. Now there is one thing I hate the most and that is when someone doesn't think I can do something. I knew it wouldn't be easy, as I was a scrawny white guy to be honest and genetics wasn't my friend since I don't have big broad shoulders and my Dad is very skinny also.

So I went and saw Anna Priest my PT and Mike Debenham of Debenham Fitness of which no doubt many will know of Mike of which they sussed me a 5 day weights program along with working out my daily diet. At this point I couldn't be happier, I was at a meager 61kg back in April and am now at 82kg. Best part is with Anna's and Mikes help I have had no back issues at all and only a couple minor incidents with the shoulder which has now been remedied. I especially enjoy the part when people who haven't seen me in months don't recognise me or are amazed at how much I've bulked up over the year. (Pity about the clothes not stretching, I've had to get all new clothes in larger sizes from the usual small size haha)

Im currently now redoing my nutrition plan and my program to include cardio due to now have a decent stomach on me... It's not major as I burn fat fast but it sure isn't that 6 pack I had 8 months ago haha has quite a little wobble to it. Worked out I eat wayyy too much processed chicken that has high fat and gotta cut back on the sugary stuff like Coke, 2- 3 cans of creamed rice I eat a day and alike.

Picked up some cardio recently like skipping that I see the big boxers do at the gym, thought it would be easy but I suck at it... Can do about 30 minutes before my calves have had enough.

I don't really have any cement goals apart from just bulking up more and more as I now enjoy it along with catching up with the crew at the gym. I would like to be really happy to get into the 80kg mark with about 10% bodyfat. Last time I got measured I was 75kg with 17% body fat, and now Im 82kg so will definitely will be around the 17%-20%....

Anyhow Im always looking for tips and tricks in helping out my program as I can see everyone is different and it's about finding something that works for you. Look forwards to chatting and finding out lots of info as Im in this for the long run and am sick of being the skinny guy.
