my body wont be able to handle the gym when I'm older- i started at 17 so i doubt il make it much past 40

I did my first comp at 39 years old and had been training since 22 years old.

Becomes an addiction but only because I feel a stress relief and great feeling afterwards. It's a sport which people can see visible results. Was mainly to work around a bad back which limited other sports but then the competition bug creaps in. Still hanging in at 55

That is awesome. I hope to still be doing this in 30 years!

I first started as i went from being an outdoor instructor to sitting at a desk all day. It wasn't good for me so i decided to join a gym for general fitness and the odd bit of weights.

Now:

1. I train because when i am training i feel great.

2. I want to be in good shape for the rest of my life (time will tell)

3. The satisfaction i get telling people i am natural when they ask if i am on anything.

4. I like being able to move large amounts of tin

5. And also the fact it's just me and the weights, and constantly having to push myself as that is the only way to make gains.

Went to my first gym at 18. Been on and off since for long periods. Appreciate physical work, more so now being office bound. Bad back issues due to being to full of "piss n vinegar" doing household removals at a young age. Thought I could lift anything. Got serious about the bb side of it 3 years ago. First competed at 50 - can't see an end yet. My wife does though.

I train to maintain my fitness, my heart, my size and my sanity. It also sets a good example for my kids and gives me some time for myself.

I also recently started doing some kick boxing training and have met some decent like minded people. Im definately not lifting the max I could lift, but im in it for the long term so avoiding injuries is paramount.

Andy.
