How much do they earn roughly a year??

I'm really passionate about this industry but at the same time, people are telling me that it isn't the best way to earn $$$... Now I worry about the future lol...

What are your honest opinions and advice?

Cheers :D

Seriously it all comes down to how good you are;

Not only at training but at

Public relations

Selling

Promoting

Organising

The basic formula is for example

$60 an hour x how many hours a day you have a client for x 5 x 52

I have heard of PT's earning $500 USD an hour but all comes down to the above.

You want to make serious $ u need to get into corporate /team training where u can train 10 plus people an hour

Then have supplements, training aids etc etc to flog off as well.

Then hire a couple of junior trainers

gee why am i telling you this, should do it myself

How long is a piece of string?

You have PT's out there that are struggling to put food on the table and then other PT's that earn 6 figure salaries.

How good are you , how well you market , your environment , these are only 3 things of many that will determine your earning potential.

Grovers formular is not bad if you want to work 52 weeks a year and have no holidays.

I know of trainers that charge $60 pr hr and trainers that charge $150 per hr. My standard rate these days is $100 per hr.

and as for the $500 US per hr that would be pushing into the relems of a Coach/mentor more than PT.

Hany Rombod (Jay Cuttler and Phil Heaths Coach) cost me $250us for an hour when i was in states back in August at the time the exchange rate was crap and it cost me $386 NZ to sit and talk for an hour  . WORTH EVERY CENT!!

Hmm, when I first saw $500 P/H I was pretty surprised but it makes prefect sense when you put it in that context huh?

Would any of you PT's here recommend the short PT courses around? I have thought about it heaps, its only 2 - 6 months for a qualification, would be mean if you wanted to travel and work. If I could do it all again Id so do applied science or some sort of sports science degree. luurrrve this sht

Its funy how people think thea is no money in P.T you know why because 99% of trainers in NZ suck they dress like shit give thea clients stupid exercises and talk on there cellphones for the whole session and thats not even half of the problem but in australia P.T businesses are booming I know guys/gals in oz making over 160 an hour pulling in over 4k a week now you can say oz has higher income which is correct but they also have 100x more P.T studios some streets have 5 on one side but they all do very well the industry needs to change over here or it will die

Have to agree with alot of what you say there Mrbig.

If you are any good as a pt you should be making 100,000 a year or more.

Its not that hard to get 150-160,000 a year once you get a good name.

I know some really average PTs who still clear 60-70,000 grand a year, which isnt huge money but is better than alot of jobs out there.

IMO if you have been in the game more than a couple of years and are not making 100,000 plus a year then you are not a good trainer and should look at doing something else.
