Creatine with Hot Water

hey guys,

I normally put my creatine in a coffee mug. Add about 2 cm of boiling water, stir the creatine with it. Then full the rest of the mug with orange juice. Just wondering if disolving the creatine in water makes the creatine less effective?

Also was wondering if taking creatine with sugar is ok? I don't have dextrose at home... yet.

Was looking at that Phosphagen HP creatine that EAS make. Said its got about 34g of sugar per serve- which i'm pretty sure is dextrose.

If i make my creatine with sugar i'd need 6-7teaspoons if i want to have the same amount as the EAS one. But i'd be using white sugar as opposed to dextrose- Is there much difference?

Thanks

The only reason you mix creatine with sugar is for POST WORKOUT along with your other stuff(whey, bcaa, etc)so it will take advantage of the insulin spike. If you take creatine during the day you don't need sugar, just water or juice. In the morning is OK with Dextrose because you fasted during sleep,so all the sugar you eat will replenish your liver and muscles glycogen. If you take creatine with that amount of sugar throughout the day you'll end up with a fat belly.

Hope that helps

I'm curious to know the effects of the boiling water, does it turn the creatine to creatinine faster?

nope thats another common myth. as far as i know, Creatine degrades at 300 degrees Celsius, so you'd have to crank up the oven to turn your creatine into creatinine!

That is true as a crystalline solid but in solution (when you dissolve it in water) any time you elevate the temp you will accelerate any degradation processes, whether or not this inactivates it on any short time scale who knows but you are definately increasing the chances by heating.

Just throw it in a glass of water and chug it down (suspension or not), as everyone is saying dont over think the little details

Grape juice is very high in sugar.

Yep it's very high in fructose

Should have a much higher glucose:fructose. Otherwise winemakers would be in trouble. And we couldn't let that happen.

lol, since when did wine makers use off the shelf grape juice for wine production?
