not responding to creatine

Beef

Recommended Posts

thought i'd give creatine a try in an attempt to overcome a training plateau. after 5 days of loading and now a week into the maintenance phase, i have not noticed any results- no weight gain, no apparent strength gain, etc.

is there anything i can do to try and get a bit of response to creatine? i'm thinking i am just one of these people who don't respond at all :(

add a couple of tablespoons of dextrose

yeah i've been taking it with raro which has dextrose in it

Try it with dextrose, raro is shit. Its been spoken about on here before Rara is to acidic. Dextrose is like $2.

from where?

hey Gymsta,i found my last time on creatine wasnt very good, what i had done different, is that i just add it to protien shakes.

when normaly i make up a drink that contains, 908 grames dextrose & add 1 pkt orange raro for taste & make it up to 4 litres.pour yourself 155ml into a glass then add ya 5 grames of creatine, mix well,Then drink.after that fill ya glass with water & drink up,good way to get any leftovers too.

i got this from some bbuiding site,it tastes alot like celltech hardcore, although its very sweet.

it always works for me.

Also 1 good thing about adding the raro is that it has a preservative in it & it will keep in the fridge for 2 or 3 weeks at least.

I have tried it without the raro once & found after opening the lid that it contained mould,Yuck..,and it didnt taste as nice,as when you have a bit of flavor.

but its not the silver bullet to muscle gain if thats what you were hoping for...no offence please mate. cos if it was it would cost moonbeams.

Give it a good long saturation in your body and if you get a wee gain off its probably half creatine half placebo effect.

here you go I will give a "factual" response

http://www.creatinemonohydrate.net/creatine_doses.html

Gives u all the info and even has a dosing chart that will work out your loading and maintenance dose to fit your specific needs.

Hmmm, 2.7g per day for maintenance for me? That's half what I have been taking. How sure are you about the info on that site? I'm not trying to refute it, as I'm certainly no expert, but it does go against the "conventional" wisdom

the point is that you only need 2.7g per day to "maintain" the creatine levels that your muscles have built up during the loading phase. any more than 2.7g per day will be wasted. IMO 5g per day maintenance is sweet, but 2.7g per day will be just as good and you'll save yourself money plus giving your kidneys a lighter load

I went through the same phase as Gymsta when I used creatine mono I did not experience any strength increase plus over I thought that was a waste on money down the loo

yeah i guess we're in that 20% bracket that don't respond to creatine supplementation. how long did you try creatine for Gymrat?

That would be only type of creatine that I have use weare I did not have rapid strength increase and when I used creatine my strengh levels were average

oh so you've tried other types of creatine and they worked? what other types worked for you?

The other types of creatine that work me when I started taking creatine are Creatine from EAS can't recall the name of the creatine that I used from EAS and the only other type of creatine that I am still using is effervescent creatine from balance.

gymsta,

i first tried balance crea mono, then the effervescent stuff - neither did anything noticable. i since tried sizeon by gaspari, and like all gaspari supps, worth every cent.

also ive tried cellmass recently, and worked as well as the sizeon. just try some other creatines mate, sometimes its better to pay a bit more for a better chance at effect, though nothing is ever garunteed.

Worth every cent? More like over priced creatine and sugar. Buy in bulk and mix it youself dont be sucked in by sparkly labels at the end of the day the fancy brands are creatine+sugar.

just creatine and dextrose. give it a go bet it works, and you will save you money for good quality foods then you will see some results. like i say the flashy products are just that.

thats a generalised bullshit attitude. true that dex+mono will be effective as most creatines, but not all supps are muscletech imitations.

sugar isnt the only way of creating a delivery system.

if ALL creatines were a hoax, i guess all bbers that use anything more than mono are dumb fucks intent on wasting dollars eh?? i agree alot of stuff, eg CEE are overhyped crap - but sizeon and cellmass are proven and effective, plenty on this site have used both. use the search function and see the past threads on them.

If you want to spend big dollars on sugar then go ahead. the big brands vs home mix how much more effective? your not going to get 300% strength gains their product would be lucky if it was 5% better than a home mix.
