HOT TOPIC: Should restaurants provide nutritional info?

Been a while since we had one of these questions, so....

Most food items we buy are required to have nutritional information on the label. There have been suggestions that fast food outlets and other restaurants should provide the same. Recently McDonalds announced they would start printing the information on product packaging, so customers could see the dietary value of their food (after they'd bought it).

What do you think of the idea? Is it going to make a difference? Will it make people think twice about what they order? Or would you rather be able to eat the occasional cheat meal guilt-free?

it will make zero difference. imo when ppl goto a restuarant they to to relax and have a good time. not to worry about how many grams of fat is in this or that. typically the foods served at a good restarent are on the healthy side of things anyway.

I think it would be ideal if you could be presented with the information if you requested it. not stated int he menu or anything silly like that. but if you were to go into "dennys" and ask for a nutritional chart. it would rock to make informed descisions. that way you could actually go to a restaurant when dieting and not play russian roulette

for a decent restraunt I would not want to know, just enjoy myself without being concerned exactly how much of what is in my food.

Wouldnt mind knowing more of the nutrition content of some of the fast food places like burger king where i had 2 triple cheese burgers for lunch ( no fries or soft drink, but hey it is the weekend after all! )

Lol macdonalds is going to be unhealthy shit no matter whats printed on the box, and with foods at resteraunts its hard to say how many calories e.c.t are in the meal exactly, as a chef will never use the exact same ammount of anything, basic averages could be give, but thats about it

I dont want to know the nutritional content of what Im eating if Im in a restaurant. I just want to enjoy my meal and a glass of wine.. not worry about how much goddamn carbs, protein and sodium Im taking in !!

LOL whats funnier is you see people counting carbs and fat and then going through like 10 standard bourbon and cokes at a pub.. makes you wonder !

How many people (non-Health orientated and some health orientated) are actually bothered to count calories and estimate their daily macro's?

I can understand if you're an anal bodybuilder (compeitive athlete) THAT MUST KNOW what goes into his/her mouth or if you have some sort of illness/disorder (can anal-retentive bodybuilder be classified as an illness/disorder?) but other than that I don't think the nutrition data printed on that little cheeseburger is going to make a hell alot of difference, especially to people that have no idea how to understand what's written on the food/packet in the first place.

I mean, if you're eating 10+ McDonald burgers a day, you don't need a nutritional content of those burgers to tell you that eventually you'll end up one big fat f_ck. In this case the whole attitude towards this kind of eating must be changed.

EDIT: By the way, love the new SpotterSearch advert. Very neat, good work.
