Still thinking about some goals etc for next year. I've grown since 2008 but not as much as I'd have liked.

Wanna be benching 140-150, weighing 100kg and get a good gain on everything else by the end of next year.

Just a small amount of what I would like to accomplish next year tho :)

* Keep anything else from exploding

* Maybe get visible abs for once

* Finally getting that 600 lb (272.5kg) deadlift

* While weighing under 90kg

* (hook gripping it is optional but preferred)

That's all I can think of. I don't have much competitive fire left in me really.

*Gain 3-5kilo of lean mass for rugby season

*200kg deadlift in January (weighing 95kg or less)

*140kg bench before rugby season (weighing 95kg or less)

*180kg squat with good form before rugby season (weighing 95kg or less)

*maintain my visible abs and keep generally good conditioning

They're all pretty immediate goals (the last one I'd like to keep up all year though), pretty much happening in the first quarter of next year. Haven't thought any further than that though.

Can't wait to attack it :) merry Xmas all.

To stop making the same mistakes I made this year

ditto TFB...like most projects around the home I only got half of them finished this year. The same applied to my quest to compete again after a 10 year absence. Many mistakes were made along the way to try and compete again at an unrealistic weight and size. In the end I ran out of time and was left having to take several steps backward.

Next year I aim to achieve a healthier fitter lifestyle throughout the year and make a far smoother transition to the final 12 weeks of dieting to ensure I reach the finishline.

Gasp - how do you intend on having a healthier and fitter lifestyle?

In the past I`ve shed up to 25kgs for a competition and ended up competing close to 90kgs. As a 50 year old thats now a hard ask and guys I know in the masters division nowdays tend to adopt a training and lifestyle that allows them to have a more user friendly launch towards their target cut-up weight.

Additionally I tend to get a rush of blood several times a year and embark on a few power programs which takes me a little off track for the BB side of things (not to mention injuries). This year I`ll have more focus on BB training with more medium higher reps and really strive to lift metabolism.

After taking a year off to sort out some problem areas I'm hoping to give Mr Noble a run for his money at Nationals.

However as long as I'm in the best shape I've been in I'll be stoked.

Interesting man. Have you gone up against Aron before? Would be tough!

You could possibly - if you have his shape, his condition - and his name

Looking at all the posts that people have discussed regarding Aron - and those that have said that they "May give him a run for his money" its been two years and those same people have competed against him and lost! However, more power to you though - good luck.

Right.... where's my chocolates :pfft:
