Not such a silly idea - technically I met my husband via an internet snowboarding forum. I was in NZ, he was in UK, it was a UK forum my friend was on and she met lots of the people for snowboarding meet ups just outside of London at one of the indoor snowdomes - then after about 6 months of me being on the forum I went over there for another friend's wedding, met my husband and a load of other snowboard forumites in person, and the rest is history. Certainly wasn't looking for lurve online, and most definitely wasn't looking for a long distance relationship, but that's the way things go sometimes!

This would certainly be the ideal place to find a like minded person. My wife and I reconnected online in 2000 after knowing each other in the early-mid 80s, and found that we were both dealing with similar situations of being single parents with disabled children with no help from former spouses. We became each others support and eventually married.
