Multi Vitamins

Hmm, I notice that Metaphysics includes iron and calcium in their multi, Hercfeend. Iron and calcium block the proper absorption of zinc and other important minerals. I don't know why so many multis include these - it's counter-productive, so best to avoid them if you can.

Pseudo, is that solid information or speculation? These would be included in a lot of multis I would have thought???

There's a bit online re: Calcium v Zinc. Although the net's not a definitive source of info there certainly stuff out there containing more info.

Simply Shredded is a great site for those that don't already know about it: http://www.simplyshredded.com

Good article here too: http://www.simplyshredded.com/the-bodybuilding-bible-a-complete-list-of-63-rules-to-grow-by.html

41 Time Mineral-Supplement Intake

It’s important to consider the timing of some mineral supplements. Calcium can interfere with the absorption of zinc, magnesium and other minerals. To avoid this, take ZMA, preferably on an empty stomach, before going to bed. Take calcium with a solid-food meal earlier in the day–breakfast and dinner are ideal.

I drink/eat a lot of milk/yogurt throughout the day so I'm good for calcium and zinc from chicken, nuts and beans etc.

I look at the MV as a 'top up' over and above what I get out of my diet not a replacement for it......

Watch out for the ones that have Saw Palmetto in them. That shit will stop your Testosterone from turning into DiHydroTestosterone (which is 3-5 times stronger than regular test! why would you want to block this!).

Stop hair loss and inhibit prostate enlargement .Dont know how effective it is.

Half of it just seemed like supplement pushing and diet dogma The other half definitely had plenty of quality advice though.

Let's be honest though, when in our sport can you read anything without somebody surreptitiously (or otherwise) telling you you need something they advocate? I guess the problem lies in that when you're a little longer in the tooth you know what you want/need and what you are willing to spend your money on. It's the young players generally that feel they need to buy everything they read about.

Personally I keep it simple anyway: Creatine, Protein, Vits and Glucosamine.
