Hey,

New here. Been reading the posts for a long time but never joined up.

Just wondering what sort of reading there is out there for the average body builder. Mainly on training. There is so much info out there and I won't say I know it all but get by fine as it is. Guess it's the boring academic in me!

Not big on the inspirational stuff just something on solid proven routines etc... The bigger it is on the science (sadly) of body building the more I'll probably enjoy it.

And I have to say it's a great site and good to see so many taking part.

Hey Nik, welcome! I've said it before - bodybuilding is the sport of nerds and science geeks.

Doubt that very much. Do you go to a special gym for these type of people?

Reckon there's more normal people doing it than nerds and science geeks - but wait  - there is a guy at my gym who looks like he is a geeky nerd. Knows bugger all, trains like shit, and preaches to all the young guys.

I highly recommend you read stuff by Lyle McDonald, Alan Aragon, perhaps Eric Cressey if your interested in more "functional" sport specific training.

These guys all tend to be quite cynical but really know there stuff. Lyle and Alan are very science minded but all their stuff is real world applicable, perfect for an academic bodybuilder.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I've got a background in some of this stuff (biochem and chem) so thought I could put it into practice somewhere other than the work place.

My main reason is there seems to be heaps of here-say from who's done this or done that and what happened. I guess I like a bit of science behind what is a physical sport.

I've tried hard to cut out the high pants/socks and sweatbands but they just keep coming back.

Will be sure to give them a look up Kurt. Cheers!
