Taupo Cycling Weekend

I have done the 160k challenge 3 times before I took up bodybuilding. The first time I "bonked" at 130K and ended up buying food at a dairy and limping home in 7 hours.

The last time I was prepared and ate and drank plenty riding with a bunch to finish in 5 hours 29 mins 53 secs. The winners finish in about 4 hours. There are plenty of hills and it is usually quite windy.

The trick is to stick with a huge group and "draft" behind them.

You need a decent road racing bike and a support car for your food and drink.

Those were the days when i was fit and weighed a massive 70 kilos.

I can't imagine doing that 4 times which makes up the 640K enduro

Do you know how the 640km one works? Is it non-stop?

I have ridden then solo 3 times and the classic twice with a best time of 3 hours 56min. The 640km is mental afew mates have ridden it, they start the night before and keep going until its done... non stop indeed. All the enduro riders where a coloured cap over thier helmets to identify them ( pink or orange depending on the distance from memory) The thing that impressed me the most about the enduros is that when you pass them in the morning (after they have completed 300km+ they will stick with you for awhile at the same speed you and doing on fresh legs.
