Getting bigger and slower

I noticed yesterday at my martial arts class that im slower since putting on some weight. Punches etc

Is it just a matter of practicing more or are there some good exercises that can help. My flexibility is even worse too but im sure thats just stretching.

Classes are only on Saturday mornings at the moment so not a lot of training but i dont wanna go backwards :/

Lol i pretty much never stretch at all, apart from leg height when at training. which isnt enough :/

I think that's your answer Ordy. Your MA training once a week isn't really enough to even maintain flexibility.

I'd say add some static and resistance stretches in after your gym sessions (HOWEVER I read somewhere that muscles don't like to be stretched hard after heavy lifting. Don't remember why, and don't know if it's even true. :? Anyone know??) or set aside 20mins or so on your rest days. Do a good warm up first naturally.

On a side note, have you found you get more injuries with less flexibility? Or no difference that you've noticed?

Edit: As for being a bit slower, I dunno. Maybe it's just a result of having more mass to move around?

Edit II: Come to think of it, it could be a result of the loss of flexibility/range of motion.

f*ck, I dunno. It's 3am. I'm going to bed.
