beginner strength training cycles

What are the best strength training progs for beginners? I wanna attempt some strength training, will make a nice change from same old bodypart split stuff, and seems alot of ppl benefit from a plifting base, so it cant do any harm to investigate/try it??

at a quick glance, theres stronglifts 5x5 program, ripptoes, bill starrs, sheiko#29, id like to know the ins and outs of these programmes from ppl that know about them.

i want a program that does include some assistance stuff, or at least can have some assistance work put in without cocking it up....
