chisseling my calves

Recommended Posts

Mine used to be a bit stingy so I ramped up the intensity and weight 6 months ago and they have responded very well. Just to demonstrate what I mean:

Incline Leg-Press raises:

25 reps - 80kgs (Warmup)

15 reps - 160kgs

12 reps - 240kgs

12 reps - 320kgs

Stretch

Standing calve raises

12 reps - 120kgs

10 reps - 200 kgs (or to failure)

Seated Calve raises

12 reps 40 kgs

12 reps 60 kgs

10 reps 80 kgs (or to failure)

Strectch

All the above are done with full range of motion.

To finish off (limited (upper) range of motion using a pumping technique):

Horizontal leg press:

20 reps 140kgs

15 reps 160kgs (to failure/fatigue whatever comes first)

<-- I should be walking like a cripple by this stage.

I normally to the above once a week. It may sound like a lot of work for one muscle group but the effort has paid off for me. To add variety, in seated I'll switch between slow negatives and explosive postives or perhaps slow and fully controlled down and up, it depends on the day.

^ Listen to the man who has calves in his avatar.

My calves seem to grow easily, so I've never done this, but you could also try walking around on tiptoe from time to time. Sounds weird. Looks weird. But you've got nothing to lose.

True story there's a guy that comes into the coffee shop he walks on his toes all the time. His will be wicked.

Just walked around the lounge on my toes.I can feel them growing.
