Whey with water or milk?

as samoan said, there's no particular reason other than taste

According to other posts you can't afford powder so how would you know? Plus I was asking orange why he used water only after his work out and milk any other time.

Its been posted here and a lot of other places that with water means you dont have to break down the slower milk protein and carbs so you get it into your body faster after training.

I have milk for my morning and night shakes though.

Thanks! So faster digestion/absorbtion with water :D

I'm not a fan of straight-up milk other than a spot to cool my coffee down during the day (not pre-cardio either, I drop a scoop of Shotgun for that!).

Next time ya at the grocery store, check out the label on the side of the milks- in fact line up the dark blue, light blue and green and look for yourself. Notice the main issue with Dark blue milk is high cals due to high fat per serve, with a decent dash of saturated fat in there- protein content is reasonable.

Then go to other extreme, green label also has reasonable protein profile, ultra low fat but the carb count climbs big time- infact equal or greater than protein per serve.

Dont get me wrong, milk protein is bloody good- something like 70% whey/ 30% casein (lets not split hairs on the exact ratio), which is the sort of profile in those new protein powders I rate hard (blends like Gaspari Myofusion versus 100% whey) since you get imediate and sustained amino acid delivery to hungry tissues.

But...lactose AKA Milk SUGAR in most BBers I've encountered, myself included, encourages water rention (that's water between the skin and muscle, not to be confused with cell volumisation which is what creatine does), excess flemme/ mucus, sometimes legarthy, bloating, wind and a general physical softer appearance- bye bye hardness & vascularity. Plus 2 L of milk aint exactly cheap anymore.

What I'm saying in short is- adding milk is putting back the crap the manufactorers have cleverly extracted AKA fat and carbs, but left the beneficial proteins intake-

Yep I still rate Whey powders too, but I defintely prefer those blend types. So much more versatile, good post workout, ideal before bed for sustained feeding, good as meal sub- just add carbs.

My take anywho...next...

I use water, tastes good to me - as long as you have a nice protein powder that is.

I am not going to carry around uht milk carton or look for milk to add to my protein powder post workout.

smoothie protein milkshakes, made at tank and other various places are a waste of time & money, just more unecssary calories, i.e. milk, fruit, yogurt etc... - and who really knows what the quality of protein powder they use and the quantities they are adding to make it up.
