Fish- fast or slow absorbing?

Whey protein is rapidly digested and enters the blood stream quickly. That’s exactly what you want after a workout to promote anabolism (muscle growth). Whey protein powder is your number one choice here, nothing else really comes close.

At all other times you want a steadier, slower release of protein into the bloodstream, so solid foods like eggs, red meat, fish or chicken are good, as is casein powder. Fish is slow digesting compared to whey.

Just eat some damn protein. The source doesn't matter.

All the wanking over fast/slow around the workout is mostly pointless in the first place; and if the guy doesn't have whey because he can't afford it, what's he to do? Not eat?

PS fish digests pretty quickly anyway if not eaten with anything else.

Why would it?

Supplement company advertising aside, of course.

You really think that, all things being equal, if you ate meat vs. whey protein post workout for a year, you'd see any actual differences in your gains?

t

Yes, an it's proven. Of course you'd have a real meal asap. Of course the supplement companies spin a load of hype with regards to gains/claims ect.. but to say that a rapid digesting protein is not extremely beneficial post workout, is just wrong.

Okay, that's fair.

I want you to show me what evidence you have for this claim, then.

If it's proven, you should be able to find me some primary sources in research that back it up. :)

I eat steak and kumara or potato post workout. Have also tried salmon and kumara. You don't need to drink whey. I'd argue it's preferable to EAT protein, thereby ensuring a more consistent supply of nutrients, as opposed to pissing most of them out.

I can afford some tricky as protein powder...the stuff that makes you grow muscles and burn fat just by opening the lid and I drink shit loads of it

Ive got a shake for in the morning with a blend of multi stage protein sources to get me through to my mid morning shake which has a higher BCAA (these are Bruised Calf Animal Acids) compound for pre workout and then right after my training I have a shake specifically for post work out with super fast acting "pre digested" protien that goes strainght into the muscle for a mind blowing pump that tears the sleeve on my gym cardi every time.

3 hours later I have a post-post work out shake with again more BCAAs and with a blend of various wheys incorporating islolate, concentrate and consolate (thats a new one...you probably haven't heard of it yet but its the best thing)

These wheys settle the muscle into its growing phase post workout and readys the muscle to accept the long acting hyper whey protein I have pre bed. With every imaginable source of protein in it and in a new meat and potatoe flavour it far outwheys the other shakes with its slow acting, long chain, multi-branched and ultra pre digested aminos that it will see me through the night until I awake bigger than ever the next day.

It also mixes very well 8)

What's with people not being able to afford whey protein powder? Its one of the cheapest sources of protein. Ok, so you have to cough up $100 to get you started then another $100 when it runs out... Havnt any of you heard of a thing called a budget lol
