Is there any benefits for using branded flavoured protein over those fonterra 20kg wpc sack unflavoured protein other than the obvious(taste)? I've used both and only difference found was the latter taste like milk and takes a while to get used to it.

Just asking coz many big guys at gym full on take the piss out of fontera protein, calling it just milk powder and also if you wanna see results, use the branded ones.

It has the same % of protein than the branded ones though so it shouldn't make any difference surely?

Agreed. But the 'big guys' at his gym might be referring to other powders like LEAN MASS gainers etc  Generally speaking, whey protein is whey protein. It's the other shit manufacturers add to it that makes it 'different'.

Fonterra WPC has different specs that it is made to. The most common is WPC80 which has a minimum 80% protein on a dry base.

All the flavoured ones have all sorts of different proteins in them from WPC,WPI,casein, egg or even a mixture. And then theres the obvious flavouring. Some also add Glutamine etc for certain benefits.

Nearly all NZ supplement companies use Fonterra stuff, and even some big ones in the states import the stuff from lil ole NZ. Then stick it in buckets with some flavouring and bits and pieces and send it back at 10x the price

Well said Milkey.

Fonterra prices are still BS, there are other local producer / suppliers who more than half the price per kg for whey that Fonterra charge.

The near monopoly on dairy Fonterra have allows the price to be artificially inflated. No wonder most commercial protein is around the $50 / kg retail.
