nothing wrong with doing calf raise on the leg press I do them and I enjoy doing them

Yep, same here. When I'm warming up for the press I crank out a few calfs as well.

yep, they are a lot of cowboys in any industry. That's why i try & do as much stuff myself before I will pay a so called professional. Most things are easy peasy, you don't need to be a rocket scientist to do most jobs.

Leg press calf raises are all good... performing them single leged alternating between legs with no rest other than the amount of time it takes to do a set with the opposite leg is awesome. However standing calf raises loaded with the entire stack with 100% movement at the knees and 0% movement at the ankle make me laugh... funny it always seems to be guys with no calves performing them this way.

Some stretches are pretty funny

Saw some guy at my gym doing a back stretch where you're on all fours and arch your back up, then arch your back down and stick your bum out. looks like erm yeh.... :pfft:

Cat stretch

But honestly what other industry do people pay for advice and it is completely acceptable for someone who knows jack shit to pretend they are fully qualified to give such advice?? (lol there probably is a few out there but Im in a pissy mood)

Eye Tee! Whole industry is full of wankers who think they know lots but the reality is quite different  Just as farcical as the fitness industry...

That's funny, I've seen the complete opposite in my experience. Guys on Leg Press doing "little" calf raises with huge weight and they have no calves. Yet the few guys who do single dumbell standing calf raises have massive calves. I still have a good laugh at the Leg Press calf raisers, just looks weak IMO.

Peachy, I'm with you on the personal trainer workout thing. There's a PT at my gym who has got his gullible female clients doing some ridiculously poor form dumbell curls. Each to their own, but most of them lodge their elbow into their stomach while pointing their arm outwards and pulling the dumbell up. Recipe for injury.

There's also another lady who grabs a 10kg bar from the 5x5, throws it in the air about 2cm, catches it and then does a mini squat or dips slightly. WTF. Someone needs to put these people in their place. It won't be me - I'm too busy being entertained.

Funniest exercise ive seen was on a normal excercise,

Bench press scrawny young guy about same build as the grandpa in the youtube link above. Stacking on alot of weight.

First he put on 160kg + 20kg bar total

Failed dropped it down a fair bit, still couldn't

Keep dropping the weight down alll the way to 30kg + 20kg bar.

Then did 1 rep second rep didn't quite make it strugging above head and then flings it backward and jumps out of the way and the bar fell down on the bench and bent the bar.

I havn't seen the guy since.
