Golf During The Season and Off Season

ENP

Recommended Posts

Over the summer months, a lot of my friends play golf and I love to tag along and play since I've been playing it for 10+ years.

When I play a round, I notice I get quite sore calf muscles and am relatively tired. I have no problem with playing over the winter months as it doesn't affect tri training too much, but over summer it's a different story.

How do you mix golf and triathlon? Anyone have experience?

Don't know how it goes with the triathlon but I play allot of golf and with my stuffed back it normally leaves me crippled for days. I find the quickest way to get over it is just treat it straight away, get home get some anti flame and a wheat bag on it and rest. It's normally all good as long as I do it for a few days after a round. Something similar with your legs might help.

You should not have time to do golf if you train for Triathlons. However if you are getting sore calves then you must be wearing low cut shoes or climbing a lot of hills.Walking should not make your calf muscles sore.

It is sometimes more tiring to walk for long periods than to go for a run. I know when I go shopping fatigue sets in rapidly as I haven't trained for it.

Try using one of those motorised carts to get around the golf course.
