16 a day seems alot!! Especially when you lay them all out!

Are you achieving your goals? If you are, why care? All the reeeally knowledgeable people who push pull and squat heuuuge weights say carbs are carbs. I guess that's why you don't see many ripped powerlifters around hey :pfft: Weet-Bix should be burned at the stake! If you think they're making you fat then maybe eat less of them.

 You think Weet-Bix taste good? Jeez. I don't hate Weet-Bix, they make good firestarters in lieu of kindling  If you're not getting fat, why are you questioning eating them? Why don't you just carry on eating them? :-s The All Blacks love them so they must be good! :pfft:

Amen

Also got out the oats I sometimes use in my shakes..

Oats Nutritional info (per 100g)

energy 1340kj

Protien 13.5

Fat (total) 5g

Carbs (total) 56.2

Sugars 1g

Pams Wheat Biskits :pfft: (per 100g)

Energy 1480kj

Protien 12.2g

Fat (total) 1.3

Carbs (total) 67g

Sugars 2.8g

Pretty similar!!

ahh yes also

Think it is quite high in sodium though so just be aware of that....

Per 100g Weet-bix has 283mg as opposed to oats with only 9mg. Alot more! Is this significant?? What does to much sodium do?

Well someone correct me f I am wrong here but from what I understand the body maintains a certain level of concentration of sodium in the blood plasma stuff. Its supposed to match the concentration of potassium on the other side of the cells. Anyways when you eat a lot of sodium you have to drink alot of fluid to maintain the same concrentration otherwise the plasma in the blood thickens which makes it harder to pump around your body (higher blood pressure). When its harder to pump around your body then you can't get as much performance from your muscles coz they don't get the oxygen and energy they need fast enough. YOur heart has to work a lot harder just to pump the blood the same as it normally does.

Also there is something to do with the nervous system too. I can't remember exactly but the nerve cells have sodium on one side and potassium on the other side and the concentration needs to match so the your nerves activate properly or something coz it switches side when they activate... lol that makes no sense but look it up.

Anyways you should have only 2g of sodium a day or 5g of salt max.
