Are Your Muscles Supposed To Ache After A Workout

ENP

Recommended Posts

I just got back into weight training yesterday morning and still this morning my pecks and triceps ache like nothing on earth. They are so sore and it hurts to move.

Will this go away/be less likely once I do more training? Also do I just stretch to get rid of the pain?

This soreness is caused by doing something the muscles are not used to. If you haven't trained the muscle for a few weeks then train hard it will be sore for 3 to 4 days. Do not train the muscle until the soreness goes away.

As long as you train the muscle once a week the soreness won't happen unless you suddenly increase intensity.

If you are a fit runner and then play soccer which involves sprints you will get sore muscles as it is hitting muscles in a different way.

I did a new exercises for hamstrings and calves and they were sore for 3 days.

Sounds like you haven't trained for awhile. You will probably get sore in all your muscles for the first week the things will ease as long as you are consistent in your training.

  • 2 weeks later...

i dont know if im helping or not but i had the same problem and i asked the owner of my gym who is a bodybuilder what it was and he it was lactic acid or something. and he said the best way to stop it pooling in/around the muscles is to warm down properly for at least 15 minutes...
