Which Federation/Association?

I'm not at competitor standard but NZFBB would've been my first choice in federations if/when I got on stage. With the recent pro-card debacle I'm not so keen.

How are other people feeling regarding choices of federations? If you're already a member will you stick with them or consider jumping ship?

If you're joining for the first time will this impact on your choice?

Sakura - I struggle to see what relevance the recent "pro-card debacle" would have on your decision whether or not to compete in an NZFBB event.

I've organised 12 NZFBB events over the past 5 years, and I (as with all the other NZFBB event organisers) take a lot of pride in what we (and most competitors) feel are excellent events. I'm certainly not saying that NABBA events are not well run - I competed in 5 of their events in 2006 and all of them were very well organised.

My point is that speculation whether a competitor deserves a Pro card or not has no bearing at all on what competitors should look for when choosing an organisation to compete for i.e. well run shows with good prospects of international (Amateur of Professional) selection for the small % of competitors who aspire to that level. Unfortunately too many people on this site like to make a generalisation that the NZFBB is in turmoil due to speculation about one or two decisions. And that message gets conveyed to people looking to start their bodybuilding career and they get totally the wrong idea.

And as for the "Pro card debacle" as you call it - Raechelle has performed with distinction (10th out of 26 competitors) in her first Pro show ... totally vindicating the decision to award her a Pro Card and hopefully putting a lot of egg on the faces on all the detractors out there!

Sakura - whoever you choose to compete with in the future, I wish you all the best, but please don't read too much into some of these negative, petty and ill-informed comments and irrelevant generalisations.

I would think that you should do whichever federation you choose.

choose one that the date and location suits you and if your competing for fun and self improvement the politics doesnt really matter.

theres been lots of debate over both federations. The nabba officials are pretty corrupt at the top level but if you want to enjoy yourself who cares about them.

hope you do choose to compete and really do enjoy yourself doing it.

I agree, perhaps my choice of words (pro-card debacle) should've been "the prez/committee can change rules whenever they want to benefit some individuals and tough shite if other people are affected negatively"

Sakura - I struggle to see what relevance the recent "pro-card debacle" would have on your decision whether or not to compete in an NZFBB event.

Really? The whole 'rule-change-for-a-friend' thing doesn't strike you as biased and corrupt? Should I ignore these things when choosing a federation? It bothers me that my potential placing/result in a comp could be affected by politics.

What happened has EVERYTHING to do with my decision on whether or not I choose to compete in a NZFBB comp (or any other fed). I'd like to feel that rules aren't suddenly going to be changed, which could put me at a disadvantage.

Sakura - whoever you choose to compete with in the future, I wish you all the best

Thank you sir

Shoot, maybe I shouldn't compete at all. I should just show off my hard earned gains by streaking at a rugby match. :pfft:

You have every right to think this way.

Based on previous decisions who knows what rules will be altered in the foreseeable future to help a friend for a future comp.

It's quite obvious that only one person is running the NZFBB and what ever he decides will simply be rubber-stamped.

Perhaps you need to make a "new friend" Sakura to ensure the goal-posts aren't moved to your disadvantage?

NABBA all the way, NZ and Australia.

Professionally run shows, (though NZ may not run on time all the time, late entrants at registration) Au runs like clockwork. Both federations look after their competitors, and I have had nothing but positive and great experiences competing with NABBA Au and NZ.

ummm how can you say NABBA NZ looks after its competors when the world champs were cancelled a week before the show leaving competitors out of pocket. maybe the shows are well run but at the top Jim Pitt is the most corrupt official there is.He has no intention of linking nabba nz up to the rest of the world NABBAs.so its affiliated with a few minor countries.Just so he can keep his position and all the perks that come with it.

just compete for the love of the sport both federations in NZ have there problems and to think one federation is better than the other is naive.

Thats why I do both, NABBA in NZ and NABBA in Australia

........ and I have had nothing but positive and great experiences competing with NABBA Au and NZ.

I don't give a shit about politics with any federation out there, I'm there to compete because I love the sport. Again, MY experience with both federations have been nothing but positive, so that is who I support.

Well lmo, as you know they are very different organisations but good on you for having a go in both countries. In NZ there has been a few Pitfalls ( :pfft: ) but in Au it would seem they have really got their shit together. I guess in the end its just about getting out there & having a go, & well done for doing so.

Do all of them why the which one crap they all same hell I'd even do NABBA?WFF to kick Hawks ass sideways after seeing his condition for the CH CH show :pfft:

Hawks doesn't have a problem with getting advice from you on his condition - he welcomes it. Actually he was saying to me the other day that. " I wonder how I can contact NZResident1, the guy obviously knows his stuff when it comes to competing" Hawks thinks you're awesome - and so do I. Thank you so much for letting us know. You're the greatest!
