WTF... Point being, knowledge is key. If someone competes and has no size or is piss weak then I would question their practicable knowledge regardless of so their called qualifications.

Completely agree with this, its surprising how many 75kg personal trainers out there you see training people for size and strength?? (fitness fair enough) I mean even from a safety point of view you should be at least as strong as the people you train or else how can you even safely spot them?

You seem to be saying more and more stupid shit every time I see you here! Unlike Rose & Steak I have resisted the urge to comment until now.

Bodyweight has very little to do with training people for strength & size. Just a few examples - the New Zealand records for squat/bench/deadlift are 282.5/180/297.5 at under 75kg! :nod: (messers Cairns & Judson), the NZ womens under 75kg records are 235/130/240 (Ms. Millen).

Try telling me those peoples or the Oly lifters (even Precious McKenzie at less than 60kg) isn't strong enough to spot or train anyone in NZL.

As for BBing training I'm sure someone like Daniel Hibbs would know more than the majority of PT's floating around regardless of size.

Point being, knowledge is key. If someone competes and has no size or is piss weak then I would question their practicable knowledge regardless of so their called qualifications. But basing a decision to listen to someone because they weigh less than an arbitary weight, is a poor decision.

Was agreeing with steak in the fact that you need both knowledge and practical experience when training others, not just qualifications. I totally agree with you that you dont need to be heavy to be strong as it is all relative to your own bodyweight. I have a female client who can squat 135kg and deadlift 140kg raw,and she does this whilst weighing 73kg. People I have trained like Barry Lee who deadlifted 200 and squated 180kg in competition while only weighing 65kg. I sure as hell dont consider these people to weak to spot anyone!! I was reffering to trainers who have never actually trained with weights but whom people see for hypertrophy or strength type training

I see where you're coming from HP. Unfortunately there are the odd PT's (and they are normally fresh out from doing their PT course) that think black is black and white is white and there is no in between. This can make for interesting verbal exchanges when they decide to speak up and question an experienced trainer doing say deadlifts, box squats, behind the neck lat pulldowns/shoulder presses etc etc.

We've all been in the game long enough to know who has a proven record and who has yet to prove their worth as trainers. I agree that personal experience and having the theory behind them makes for a very qualified PT and this comes with years in the industry.

By everyone you mean Nickoli and myself. We were ok, Nick pwned the 155k farmers. Dale came for a bit as well.
