Have I told you the story of when I was your age? I wasn't even allowed to train with the powerlifters. My role was to load the weights and spot. I wasn't even allowed to talk! You young guys nowdays have no idea! You don't have to serve any apprenticeship. You come straight in and get to train! Where's the respect Freek? :wink:

Dnt blame me because you were the gym bitch bro. Its just the same as when you were my age the older powerlifters were stronger than you so did not respect you.... now you are old and the younger powerlifters are stronger than you and have no respect lol. :pfft: :pfft: :pfft:

About two months had passed and Bob decided it was time for me to max out on the deadlift. After a workout, he loaded the bar with 405 lbs and told me to pull it. At the time, I wasn’t capable of a 300 lb pull so I approached the bar and gave it a half-assed try knowing that I couldn’t do it. Bob ran over and started screaming at me using names like “p*ssy” and “c**t.” So I tried again, and of course, the bar didn’t budge.

After five tries, Bob came running toward me. He kicked me in the leg, knocking me down, but not before landing an open hand slap across my head as I fell. He screamed, “You’re a pussy, and you will never be shit!” He then grabbed my coat, took out my car keys, and jumped in MY car. He drove to his house leaving me stranded at the gym. His house was four miles away, and if you’ve ever been to Maine, you know that the winter nights are brutally cold. Here I was with a sweaty T-shirt and a light coat walking to Bob’s house to get MY car. When I finally got there, my car was parked in his driveway with the keys in it. I sheepishly drove home.

Some would read that story and say, “That would be my last day training with that idiot.” Not me. You see, I understood that Bob held the keys to everything I wanted. I knew that he could teach me how to get big and strong, and the only thing I now cared about was lifting and getting huge. No amount of abuse that Bob gave me would shake my resolve. I knew that if I listened and learned everything I could, he could show me the way.

Yeah. That line of reasoning isn't immune from being taken apart, mind you; being big and strong is a little different from getting big and strong, and I'm sure most of us can point to impressive-looking dudes that train in ways that will just kill a newbie be it due to genes, drugs, or both.

But if you're talking about how to handle a beginner, then you really won't do better than dropping him off with a group of big strong lifters that actually get results. Most of your actual gains come down to showing up and putting in real effort (aka consistency and hard work), which nearly every newbie tends to be slack about.

The reality is that you can argue about programs and this and that all day long, but that doesn't have a whole lot to do with your results in comparison. Which is something else most beginners don't get.

Heh! Nothing is immune. It's part of the problem. People over analyse shit instead of doing (and sticking with) it.

You speak a lot of sense IMO. I like your simple, uncomplicated approach. :)

I am le simpleton. I train. I eat. I sleep. There may or may not be a little bit of paid work in there too :shifty:

Completely agree with this, its surprising how many 75kg personal trainers out there you see training people for size and strength?? (fitness fair enough) I mean even from a safety point of view you should be at least as strong as the people you train or else how can you even safely spot them?

You seem to be saying more and more stupid shit every time I see you here! Unlike Rose & Steak I have resisted the urge to comment until now.

Bodyweight has very little to do with training people for strength & size. Just a few examples - the New Zealand records for squat/bench/deadlift are 282.5/180/297.5 at under 75kg! :nod: (messers Cairns & Judson), the NZ womens under 75kg records are 235/130/240 (Ms. Millen).

Try telling me those peoples or the Oly lifters (even Precious McKenzie at less than 60kg) isn't strong enough to spot or train anyone in NZL.

As for BBing training I'm sure someone like Daniel Hibbs would know more than the majority of PT's floating around regardless of size.

Point being, knowledge is key. If someone competes and has no size or is piss weak then I would question their practicable knowledge regardless of so their called qualifications. But basing a decision to listen to someone because they weigh less than an arbitary weight, is a poor decision.
