IFBB Worlds Doha - Qatar Results

Nothing skewed about it man, it's the IFBB World champs. The very best in the world. To get 15th is still not a bad effort. They are all freaks there, always have been. People that have never been just dont understand how hard the level is. There can often be over 30 in one class so again to get top 15 is awesome. To say they are all on drugs, well it says it is a drug tested contest, it doesnt say anywhere that it is a natural contest. There is a difference. You go into a show like that with your eyes open and if not they soon will be.

Very true, rigger - and insightful from someone like yourself who has also placed top-15 at an IFBB World Champs! While Daniel and Supry were always going to stuggle in their respective divisions, it's good for NZ to send some of our best competitors to these events.

So, rigger - are we going to see you back on stage next year? Like me, you've got your 50th birthday coming up, so perhaps you are still keen to target an appearance at the 2010 IFBB Masters World Champs? Speaking of which, Peter Hunt (50+) and Brian McFarlane (40+) are off to the 2009 IFBB Masters World Champs in Poland next week - I'm anticipating a top performance from them both!

No you misunderstand sorry, Im not saying its a bad effort at all - especially considering what he's up against.

Absolutely!!

Totally its all in the wording for sure...and once again it says alot for Daniel's result knowing he isnt into that.

I havent been to a World's but I have heard alot of the stories, and yes I know it doesnt make up for having not gone, but....yes genetic potential = phenomonal to start with, yes drug tested BUT not necessarily natural...so a combination of the two is bound to be an eye-opener.

No worries deepsouth, Yes it is a freak show. You get the freakiest geneticley gifted people in the world and then they lift weights etc etc and that is what you end up with. If it comes to New Zealand dont miss it.

Neil Gardner from Aussie managed 7th place in the U70k division. He looked brilliant in the photos. He did the NZ Elite show here in 2008.

Yes - I spotted Neil in a photo standing next to Daniel. I remember speaking with him for a while at the Elite show - he's a really friendly guy and well into his 40's now, so great to see him footing it with the World's best amateurs for his weight. He was an IFBB Pro for a few years - I also saw him compete a couple of times at the Aussie Pro show.

Anyway - here's that pic of Daniel (#29)and Neil (#30):post-131-14166820214217_thumb.jpg

welcome aboard Lee, would love to hear more about your experiences up there. Was this your first Worlds and if not how have you imporved since last time and how do you feel you can improve for the next one, assuming you want to go again.

I thought in the pics Dan didn't look the sharpest he has before, but bought more size (I know you can't trust pics) but also felt the Tan he had on was a let down. I understand he used a different brand to usual, did you feel that was part of the problem or did it look the goods in person.

HI Michael

This was my 4th crack at the Worlds but my best result to date, previously having done russia, china, bahrain and now Qatar. Ive always placed top 15 in the lightweights but tried moving up in weight last year to welters, while i did well in the europeans placing 4th I fail to place at the worlds and was advised to drop down again. the fulll year at a higher weight helped and this was my best placing.

Feedback was good and Ive been asked to addd more sweep to the quad and more thickness on the back especailly lower, cant see how i can do this and remiain in the lightweights as im at the top of the scale now.

There are some great shots of Dan here
