A few quick questions

Hi Guys,

Pretty new to this site so i guess ill introduce myself. My name is Sam, im 20 years old and residing in Australia (Im an expat kiwi and cant find any sites up to the standard of this). I'm just under 6 ft and weigh 83kgs. Gaining weight is not hard for me, and I am reasonably well built. (Modest too). My cardiovascular fitness is good, I cycle twice and run twice a week.

Now, I have a few questions regarding training. I have been hitting the gym for about 2 years now, but frequency varies greatly. Over the past 4 moths or so I have been going consistently 2 - 3 times a week. My question is as follows: The days in which I do go, I do more or less exactly the same routine including bench press, DB shoulder press, upright row, seated row and bicep curl with the bent bar (Not sure what its called - shows how much of a newbie I am to this). If I were to increase the frequency of training to 5 days per week, is doing the same routine each time still going to be beneficial? Or could it potentially be bad? I use Balance WPI on the days i train.

Any guidance is much appreciated!

Cheers guys

the general rule is to train each muscle once a week so to answer your question no it is not a good idea to do the same routine 5 times a week. do it and you will see why its a bad idea.

google 5 day split and you will see some examples of what people do.

Welcome Sam!

aaa is right, your muscles grow while you are resting and sleeping not while you are training. So have a crack at five days a week but cut it back if you feel like you are wrecking yourself. You could start knocking back that WPI every day, not just on the days you do weights. That's because your muscles need protein to grow even on the days you are not training.
