why potassium?

You tend to get a bit deficient in certain minerals and electrolytes when on a keto diet. Potassium and magnesium supplementation is normally necessary otherwise you start getting muscle twitches and cramps, which if you have a real major imbalance isn't too good for your heart. It's generally easier just to use some form of supplement than rely on getting it from your food. You should know if your deficient though as you'll normally get muscle twitches.

To add to Flex's post, it's my understanding that potassium supplements in NZ are limited to 99mg per dose and you can only get higher doses via prescription. The NZ RDI is 3800mg for men and 2800mg for women...
